Anybody have first hand experience with Promag mags? Especially for the Ruger Mini-14 in .223? And in 10 to 40 round capacity?

Thanks for any response.

I have tried and recommend the 10rd mags. A great place to get them is at Sportsmans Guide. They have a four pack deal and if you are a member they are pretty cheap. I find that 10 rounds is about perfect, just enough to have fun, but not enough to make the gun really heavy or overheat the barrel.

I've sold a good many for handguns and I have not had any complaints.

I HAD 10 30rd AR-15 mags and 5 17rs Glock 17 mags and they all sucked. Miss fed, rounds feel out of the mags in a mag pouch. I will never buy them again.

I had some for my HK USP45, & 30 rounders for my AR, I didn't like them. They misfed in my AR.
I will only buy factory or USGI mags now.
    IMHO JUNK!!

I have tried them for my P220 with atleast 2 jams per magazine. Also from what I understand MOST aftermarket mags suck for the Mini-14's.

I bought 4 of them from a seller on here. I sent them back because they wouldnt go in my mini 14. The ones I got back will go in the mini 14 with 10 rounds in them if the bolt is open. It will go in with 9 rounds if the bolt is closed. I always heard how good they were but I would not ever buy them again. I have a couple 20 rounders that are promag or pmi that do the same thing with 20 rounds in them. Go for factory mags.

I have a few for handguns and they work great for me.Here comes the but, when I bought my Springfield XD it came with 3 12 RD mags.I fooled around and tried to buy some more but could not find factory mags.Thats been taken care of now,but I bought 2 12 RD Pro Mags for it before I found the 12 RD Factory Mags.I bent a metal mag loader trying to get the 12th Round in one and it even dented the caseing,so I tried the other.I finally managed to get 12 in it but then it would not lock up in the gun.I took one out and it fit fine,so both mags got tossed into an ammo can.As for the Mini-14 I got lucky a while back and got several factory 20RD mags.Ive learned by trial and error by trying many Mags in all of my .223 Mini-14's and these are the ones I would trust my life with.Factory,PMI up to 30RD and Mason,Ive heard good reviews on the Pro Mag for the Mini-14,Ive even got some USA Mags that work great in one of my older Mini-14's.Ive heard Pro Mag is trying to get the contract to make Ruger's Mags.If thats so I would say their pretty reliable and you better grab them while you can.Ruger will not permit any Ruger Mag for the Mini-14 to hold more than 5 RDS.I think the Mini-14 is a great self defense gun and is under rated, its not as accurate as some AR's but its good enough out to 200 yrds and thats fine with me.With good Mags and if you keep it clean I think its a very good rifle.HTH

    Best!!
