Between the .380acp and the .38Snub for carry.I have read the .380 is better and more effecive than .38 in a snub nose.I have to say I dont see the .38 as that effective.I meen it hurts like hell but it is not incapacitating or a knock down round you can definately still function and cause grave harm.Whats the scoop on this which is a better performer?I have zero experience with .380acp Im just wondering if what I read on the effectiveness of the .380 over .38 is valid.

Pretty good question Eric,But I choose the 38 Special+p it has more muzzle energy.Plus I dont worry about any feeding problems.

The .38 is probably the better overall round for defense. The cops used to carry the relatively slower, heavier bullets but now that they've had a technology makeover for stopping power there's a lot more effective rounds available for it. The .380 is limited somewhat by short case capacity. Look at them side by side and you'll easily see why the .38 has more energy potential. The best .38 Special loads are better stoppers, in the statistics, than the best .380s. In fact the best .38+Ps come closer to the good 9mms. The other advantage of the .38 is it can be loaded in a .357 firearm if you want to go light for practice or for the wife to shoot.

I have always wondered that as well whether the 9mm was better than the .38spl.I have heard from people from both sides of that camp and people say they are basically the same.I reckon the 9 takes it though.
