I took Black Roses link to the SKS faq and I found my marking. Its not Chinese its Vietnamese. The site says these have no Import markings because they were just brought back from war and they are not that common. This leaves me wih 4 questions..(1)Is it even legal for me to have this?..(2)Is there any collector value since they are not that common?..(3)Where can I go to translate the rest of these markings/words?..(4)What would he D7 REG165 7/68 etched into the Bayonet and Butt Plate be?Military code for something? Thanks from my Confusion.

Classic says as long as its not fully automatic, and not a post ban, it should be legal... He seen quite a number of them when he was in Vietnam... the 7/68 is the date..If the bayonnet is the spike type, it is illegal to have it attached to the rifle as you can buy those as curios but illegal on the weapon...

I will try to find out some more for you.. there is not too much in the books...so web here I come..

He thinks its a unit designation but is not sure... the site I gave you lists so much info... go back to that page... at the bottom of the page is legality... check that for legals but he is sure it is legal to own... Under the Vietnamese SKS is a small paragraph with HOWIE highlighted... Click on it.. you might be able to get some info there or email him or the site owner....there is almost nothing in the books about it.. just the Chinese, Russian.. etc..

greetings, eric iram'sx has it there are nva division stats. a friend of mine in tenn has one from the 168th. it might have some historical value to a mil. collector, but they probably wouldn't bring much more than what you paid. respt submitted dads-freehold
