In all seriousnes Ihave to say the 12.Unless it is a mega hot 20 handload.A 3" 12 is pretty strong. Not like my 3.5" 10 but still very powerful.

I know what you mean my 31/2 in Mag about tears my shoulder off, even with a modified choke.I had never shot a gun that actually hurt me until the first time I shot it with a T shirt on and a Turkey choke.I dont do any plinking or skeet shooting with it.

12 Gauge 3", in my opinion. I've got one of those nice rubber recoil pads on the back, and that thing still brings the pain with each shot. With a shell with the max amount of powder, it lets out a thunderous roar and a column of fire about 3 feet long. I like it a lot. I've never gotten that with a 20 Gauge.

I like the re-coil of the 12 it give you confidence in your weapon that if you do your part you know you are covered. You feel the power nd know its even worse on the other end.Thats a reason I like my .357 so much i when you shoot it and feel that boom nd see that flash you know you hve a serious weapon. You dont get that feeling with 9mm or .410,puts your mind at ease I think.

Being that both shells,, the 12 guage 3 inch and the 20 guage 3 inch both have 3 drams of powder, but the 12 guage has 1 1/2 oz of shot and the 20 guage has 1 1/4 oz of shot, being the same powder charge but lighter load in the 20 guage I would think that it would have a bit more power.
