Rifle storage in New York State

Hello.

I live in New York City. I have alked to a Long ISalnd T&T Gunnery store, that said that they would sell me a rifle with no problem and as long as I store in outside NYC I would not need a permit.

So the question is where do I store it? Are there gun stores on Long Island that offer storage service? Should I maybe use storage facility? Will storage facility complain about a rifle being stored? And if I dont tell them what I am going to store, what happens if the rifle is stolen?
