I'm back from the hospital

Just wanted to check in with my friends at GunBroker.com now that I'm back on line. On the 9th of May I had a knee revision (that's a knee replacement that has gone bad and needed to be redone) and I was in the hospital for just over a week. I was really wracked up for a while, and this past Monday I was even thinking ... "they might loose me!" Kind of shook me up, but I'm glad to say I'm back at home and on the mend ( ... and still looking for my USED Annie).

I'm also very thankful for my dear wife who loves me so much and gives lots of TLC ... now, a woman like that makes a fella want to get back home as soon as possible, too!

I missed getting to hear from y'al.

God bless et Bonne Chasse

Ken

Welcome back. After 6 weeks in the hospital this past fall, I know how you feel getting back home. Take it easy and don't go shooting for at least a couple more days.

Andersk go to physical therapy three times a week and go to the range afterwards. That's guaranteed to get you all better.

Glad you are back and doing well, I think you probably need a new gun, for theraputic purposes, of course.

Great news! I was under the impression that once a knee was replaced, nothing else can be done later. Glad to hear yours was able to be repaired.

Can they put in a zerk fitting so you can grease the joint once in a while?

They never told me about the jerk fitting ... no that was zerk fitting you asked about.

I have a Johnson & Johnson implant, and half of it was replaced (ie 2 of 4 parts), but I had hoped they would replace the whole thing with a Zimmer implant. Oh well, the Doc did what he thought was best ... who am I? Just the guy hauling the hardware around in my leg. And he could not consult with me on the table!

And they say it will only last 10 to 15 years. Yes, they can be replaced multiple times ... carpentry job on the *! Amazing!

So what happened to the old one?

If you've got it, maybe you could sell it and make a couple of bucks?

Of course you couldn't sell it on e-bay--they have the zero tolerance on "body parts" (same policy they have toward guns).

Maybe you could sell it on gunbroker?

How much miliage is on the old knee?

Maybe I could sell it on e-Bay because it is not the whole knee, just part of it. Sort of like the gun barrel is not a gun.

Actually, I don't have the part. They do.

I think the doctors us the parts-gone-bad to show people what could go wrong ... or how about they use it to show Johnson & Johnson what DID go wrong on me, so they make some changes and they do not have to revise other knee replacements.

    Life is beautiful!

Wish you the best. Hope you can enjoy some of the summer. Best of luck for a full recovery.

Yo badboybob, you were right. I just got back from the shooting range. Man alive, does an hour of plinking ever do good for the knee, and the soul ... some time in prayer helps, too!

I'm not even going to clean the rifles (make that "carbines", now that I know the difference), I need to get another ride back out there real soon! I do want to heal up just right! (Thanks, folks for the encouragement.)

Only problem was that the black flies, no-see-ums and the mosquitoes are coming back to life. I'm not going to miss that aspect of the woods in Canada, when we move down to the Boston area this Fall.

    Bonne Chasse!

Glad you are home and on the mend.
    They call it "medical practice".
That means they do it till "they" get it right.

    Just a thought.
