Thank You.....and Goodbye......

Having been raised in a religious family, I start every morning I wake with a thank you for another day. This morning, however, I also said goodbye. While at work last night I got a call from my brother. Though I was glad to hear from him, I knew it couldn't be good news. After our initial hey and how are you, he proceded to tell me that my uncle had passed away. Though I didn't know him very well, I'm still having a problem typing this as tears well up in my eyes.

I can see your face and hear your voice
and both are a faded whisper.
It saddens me that in this world
you no longer linger.

I melt back to times and places
and days I'd seen you on.
Remembering how young you were
and it now seems strange you're gone.

I hope you rest in easy peace
and have made it to the Lord above.
And when you can...smile and remember
all of us you've known and loved.

I am sorry you lost your uncle. It is a tribute to his character that you have shared how neat a person he was and how you will miss him so much.

When ever there is a loss of an friend or loved one, I think of the time I spent in Greece. As you walk into the old Greek cemeteries above the main gate there is a saying. Literally translated it states, "I have been where you are, you will be where I am".

Many ocassions life is too short, but death is imminent. Keep the faith and let's all enjoy getting together at that great, "Drill Field In the Sky".
