218 You are right about Lee Marvin. But as far as kickin the most butt, I would have to say it was Clint Eastwood in "The Good, Bad, and the Ugly" Just my buck two five. What about women characters?

I have to agree with Lee Marvin in "The man who shot Liberty Valance". It is one of my all time favorite movies. It was the fisrt movie I ever recorded on a VCR tape back in 1984, and I still got it. Libert Valance scared the hell out of me as a young kid, and even Jimmy Stewart was scared of him. Heck, even John (The Duke) Wayne had to seek up on him and ambush him from a dark alley while Liberty was drunk. Now that was one bad dude that needed killing!Trinity+++

I never watch stupidvision, and haven't been to a movie in 30 years. What makes anyone of you think that some Hollywood jerk is capable of kicking *? They are mostly a bunch of socialist fruitcakes who support the dumbocrap party.

Hey thar 218, but what does "Men Are From Mars......." have to do with the subject? My point is that the Hollywood "super heroes" are a bunch of pansies who could never survive in the real world. The last real man from Hollywood was John Wayne. In my fox hole now so fire away!

I'm with SXS and Jim Rockford- Typical scene:Body builder, tough guy, chases Rockford into a bar. Rockford runs to bathroom and throws liquid soap all over floor and leans against wall, real cool like. Muscle head runs in, takes huge stride and hits soap, and falls on his *. Our boy Jim saunters over and whacks him good saying "you tough guys are always so stupid"!

Leaving out the martial arts genre (especially the prissy Van Damme, who apparently has a guy follow him around to pick lint off his jacket in public) -- don't forget Charles Bronson; he did a lot of movies around the same time as Eastwood's. I like Eastwood too, and Marvin in POINT BLANK. Some of Marvin's movie characters had a brutality to them that Eastwood's usually don't. In fact Eastwood has become kind of an apologist for his gunslinging movies. Then there was Steve McQueen in THE GETAWAY and BULLITT and SAND PEBBLES. Or if you like your a**-kicking with a little more Hollywood style, there's always big-* John Wayne in THE QUIET MAN or McCLINTOCK.I confess I used to look forward to those kickin' Charles Bronson movies, though, like the one where he played the p.o.'ed melon farmer ...

James West ( Robert Conrad the real one) and Peter Breck( NicK Barkley) from The Big Valley. I would put those two up against whole armies.

Sgt. Saunders played by Vic Morrow on "COMBAT!". He always got his share of Krauts with his Thompson, .45 1911, grenades, pistol belt, bayonet, and bare hands. Although he played his part well, I understand that Vic Morrow had a dislike for guns.

Ruger Niner: COMBAT is being shown on a cable channel GOOD LIFE TV (gdtv.com ?) and there is an unofficial website that's too full of COMBAT nuts that seem to have too much time on their hands like TREKIES at combatfan.com . This website has more than you ever wanted to know about COMBAT.

I went to that website (COMBAT.com) and found everything but films. They have 46,000 registered users. That's fanatical.

I dont recall the characters real name, but on TV the series was Walking Tall, and the good guy was Buford T. Pusser, now he kicked a lot of butt back in the late 70s and early 80s. I always remember his name when I hear the phrase 'talk softly and carry a big stick', because that was what he did, literally. Cool show.
