A.K.E.R. of Baker Syracuse N.Y. 3 barrel....

Saw one of these today. Has a side by side, then a rifle
barrel on the bottom. Damascus steel barrels, rabbit ear
hammers. How old is this gun anyone know? Top side by
sides are 12 guage.

    I can't remember exactly when Baker moved to Batavia, but I believe the date was no later than 1890. Your gun was most probably made in the few years right around the Civil War. I say this because Baker and Smith teamed up and began to make rather nice shotguns in the years before they both left Syracuse. These were breechloaders and yours predates them.
