calling all experienced self-defenders

Recently someone replied to a topic re: loads for self-defense use by telling of his experience of having to shoot an intruder/attacker who died shortly thereafter. Unfortunately I don't remember the title of the topic to look it up, nor do I remember the man's forum name. I would be interested in hearing from him and anyone else with similar experience what the aftermath was like; especially, how the authorities treated you, if you were sued and how that process played out, etc. From what I read on this forum, the deck often seems to be stacked against crime victims defending themselves and their families. I would find it helpful to hear from someone who has actually gone through such an experience. Maybe the person mentioned above was the only one who has, and maybe he doesn't visit the forum much. But I thought it was worth a try.

the variables are too much to think or anticipate. It depends on where you live. the scumbag who got shot, it's all who, what, when, where and why. When I used to teach CCW classes, I would tell my students....if you use your gun in self defense....you can count on getting at least sued. The only way not to get sued is if you killed the crook and that person had no family. It would be up to the District Attorney on whether or not to prosecute after he/she looked at the evidence.
