I asked the name of my guns--they never told me. After adding a new one to the stable, I've even put my ear to the safe to hear if they were introducing themselves to one another. Nothing. All any has ever said out loud was, "BANG." Must be some kind of code thing among guns. I've resorted to referring to them by their genre and/or manufacturers name. Serial numbers just seem so...so impersonal, don't you think?

    Sort of.

I called my model 28 the "Big Smith"

My model 10 was the "Little Smith"

My model 14 was "FrankenWesson" since it wa built from parts.

The Super Blackhawk was often called "Boomer".

Sadly, they're all now called, collectively, "Rusty Ballast".

Giving names to guns is silly, unlike giving my cars and motorcycles names, which is sensible [;)].

I like it. As for me, the thought never crossed my mind to name my guns. Guess that would have made it harder on me when I had to watch them sink to the bottom of that lake.
