Hey all,
I am looking at purchasing an AK or an SKS in the next few days. Which one do you all prefer? It seems like there are more add-ons for AK's than there are for an SKS. Any preference on country make on either as well?
Thank you for your response!

If you can't afford both then buy the one that suits you the best.
I personally prefer the SKS, I have had both a Russian and a Norinco Para, the Norinco was more accurate and more reliable.
The AK is great for tossing a bunch of ammo down range, but these days I'm having trouble feeding single shots so that dosen't sound to good.
might as well as be asking "hey I want a screwdriver, should I get straight or phillips"
Not even close...
get the AK
JMHO.

With the SKS you can have as many 10 round clips ready to go as you have ammo. Since we can't have full auto versions the advantage actually goes to the SKS. It even has a slightly longer barrel so it would have a slightly longer sighting radius & slightly higher muzzle velosity.
Small differences indeed but I see no point in paying more for a rifle that produces less. Of course a full auto version would be another matter.

I would love to hear the rational behind this nonsense.

It also results in reduced accuracy, not to mention increase in size, weight, and reduced maneuverability.
Get the AK, get a pile of mags and get a few thousand rounds of ammo.
Once you start using your AK your SKS will become a gun safe queen.
The only thing I don't like about the SKS is how hard it is to get a larger clip in there. That extra part on the front of the mag is just a hassle and it never seems to fit good.
Well then buy an AK.
Or better yet, get an SKS and leave the magazine in its original configuration and learn how to use stripper clips.
That is a really cool looking SKS, never seen anything like it.
