Pink M&M's?

Who the hell wants a pink M&M anyways?

Seriously though, I am looking to buy a flexible carry weapon. I intend to get a CCW. Currently I am trying to find a HK P7M10 and I am looking for an alternative in case I meet with no luck finding one. I would like some of your input on a good alternative weapon, in case I cannot find a P7M10 that I willing to put out the chunk of change for.

Here are the things I considered that made me choose the P7M10: (This is to give you an idea of what I look for in a weapon)
(Disclaimer: Please keep in mind this is just my opinions and I am NOT saying your favorite gun, caliber, style, manufacturer, favorite color, favorite band, favorite etc. sucks.)

-Low Profile Slide
-Caliber .40 S&W, I prefer something larger than 9mm or .38, such as .40S&W, .357 sig (I do not know a lot about this caliber, but the ballistics are impressive) or even as large as .357 mag but I want to keep the velocity as high as possible, thus why I didn't choose a .45 (although the Mk XXIII is nice, large but nice)
-Barrel Length of 4 inches (I do not want anything smaller)
-Size (being the M10 it is larger than the other P7's but still concealable, with creativity, I guess I am looking for "mostly concealable")
-Squeeze-cock, I like this alot (however I do not know of any other squeeze cock semi-auto handguns)
-Manufacturer....it's a HK! Need I say more.

Thanks to everyone for the input!

-Eric

Yes...I do really love the P7, however it isn't the easiest firearm to come by. Soon I will be responsible for carrying large amounts of cash. So there is a timeframe in which I need to decide on a weapon. So any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I was just trying to illustrate what I look for in a firearm, ultimately it comes down to personal preference, but at least you might able to help me narrow it down to a few select firearms.

BTW...I can see the Bullock fire from my back yard, DAMN that thing is HUGE!!!

Well you can translate to "Dead Dance" however I prefer "Danse Macabre," which is basically the same thing.

I saw the P7M13 which is very very nice. However I prefer a bit larger caliber. Hence the P7M10, which is .40S&W. The reasons are mainly for flexibility, you never know what you might have to shoot through (e.g. auto glass, car door, etc.) if you ever get into that horrible situation. My understanding of physics is that a heavier projectile will be subject to less deflection from such objects. Maybe I am incorrect and if so, please educate me. Pretty much I only have experience with one firearm and that I got for myself as my 18th B-day present, however I feel that if I am roaming around with AK-47 I am looking for trouble. I mean it is a nice AK all pre-ban, milled, underfolding metal (not wire) stock, all black (no wood), but as I said even with the stock folded it is still big. Granted I doubt anyone would try and rob me when I was doing a drop with an AK, but it seems a little on the over kill factor.

I am open to anyones suggestion, if you like a particular handgun, let me know and tell me why you like it. This goes for everyone out there on gunbroker.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Thanks, I will definatly check them out. I have never fired a .357 sig. I have checked out the ballistics and it looks pretty nice. I heard .357 sig is reminicent of 10mm, but I haven't fired a 10mm either. Can you tell me a little about that load?

It sounds pretty nice, I think I will go down to the range and rent one just to try it out.

Does anyone have any opinions and/or experience with the Steyr M-Series? Looks pretty weird, but it looks like it resonably compact and the slide has a low profile. I definatly would have to hold one befor I buy. It definatly looks like a "love it or hate it" design.

I went to the gunshow yesterday and blew my gun budget. I saw only one P7 and it was the M8. So after lots of walking around and mulling over the Sig's and the Walther's I just happened to pick up a Steyr M40. My friend had mentioned it a few weeks ago and he showed it to me on the Internet. I wasn't thrilled at the time, but let me tell you how pleasantly surprised I was when I picked it up. Needless to say that is what I settled on. And believe me it wasn't a hard settlement. It has an excellent feel, low slide profile, 3 safeties (2 trigger safeties, one similar to the Glock style and another that is very quick and easy to disengage, it is just above where the trigger finger rests on trigger and there is a locking safety that prevents take-down and firing), it has a "rock-n-roll" trigger, a chamber loaded indicator, accessory ramps and trapezoid sights (weird, but I like them) and for the full size it is reasonable concealable. The only thing I really didn't like is there is no way to decock it.

Thanks for all the assistance and recommendations. It was a big help. I look forward to being a frequent gunbroker.com customer and contributor to the forums.

    Thanks again,
    Eric

Well I went to range and shot my M40. It was so smooth and accurate. I have to get use to the glock style trigger, but that will come with time. I shot a few hundred rounds and did not have a single misfire, shooting a few varities of ammunition. Over all it is very accurate. I do not like the fact I can only adjust the sights for windage, but I guess that is why there are aftermarket parts. But I really do not need to adjust the sights. The trapezoid sights are very fast, they shoot a little high so if you are going for precision use the tip of the triangle. Over all the recoil was very managible and you can do very tight double taps. The worst thing about shooting it was the tight mag springs (which will break in) and the gun freak that kept on trying to talk to me with my ear muffs on. Actually he was very nice, just I think his wife doesn't want to hear about his guns so he corners other gun owners on the range. We all need our outlet I guess.
