I was recently given a chance as a machine technician repairing electronic assembly equipment. The guy that was supposed to teach me is jealous of my potential i figure because he flat out told me that he wasn't going to teach me anymore because they would fire him and keep me. I guess it's because i'm fairly sharp and he has a family and i don't. (I'm married w/no kids.) I'm sobbing to you guys because he hurt my feelings by saying that i talk about guns and GB too much and that will keep me from amounting to anything. I'm upset because he's wrong, I'm doing good now (knock on wood) I'm 24, married 3 yrs. i bought and sold my first home and now own a little 2 acre lot in a nice area (that he wants to live in). As you all read the other day i bought my first new vehicle, have a good job and am honestly quite proud of myself. Most of my old buddies still live with MOMMY and haven't stopped their drinking and pot smoking yet. How should i handle this? He's made a few comments lately that he would like to start getting along but for a few months he just abandoned (sp?) me, which backfired because i learned A LOT on my own and i've taught him a few tricks. I was hired because of my operator's experience with a certain machine and have grown. I helped the company buy it and another so now he is aking me to teach him how to program them. Should i? or should i be an * like he was and keep it to myself? At this point i'm bragging but i quit and they called me back because he couldn't work on it, as a matter of fact he and an engineer did about $1,200 damage to it so i had to fix it my first day back. Plus, he's been an * because i make more $$$ than he does now. ANY comments?

I advocate peace in the workplace, but that doesn't mean you have to eat a sh** sandwich, either. Teach him what your Boss tells you to or requires you to.....no more, no less, and don't be in a hurry to do it. Too Bad, but isn't it fun when "What comes around actually does go around?" Remember, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. From the sound of things, its plain that "as you sow, so do you reap" applies to this person. If not, why would he have to be jealous of you? He should already have his.
Here's one for you: "I hate guys who criticize the others guys whose enterprise has made them rise above the guys who criticize!" He has his choices and it appears they haven't been all that good. So be it!

he was probably just afraid you would advance faster than him.....and you did
Be nice to him and it will eat him up.
SMILE AND MAKE THEM WONDER WHAT YOU ARE UP TO

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
The sound of a 12 gauge pump clears a house fatser than Rosie O eats a Big Mac !
But if you keep stuff like that quite, then you'll save yourself a rut of problems, and have many more friends.
