Hello Leeblackman.. (couldn't find an mail-adress, therefore this post.)
You wrote in the "Ask the experts"-forum, in the thread "Too big for me?"...
Ah yes, another fan of the 6.5x55. Just out of curiousity, what kind of rifle was it?
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
The sound of a 12 gauge pump clears a house fatser than Rosie O eats a Big Mac !
The rifle I used to shoot was a danish made competition rifle, with Diopter-sights, wide leather-strap, 5 shot internal magazine.
The manufacturer was : Otterup. (possibly called Schultz & Larsen, I keep forgetting wether Schultz & Larsen is the manufacturer, and the rifle called Otterup.)
They are usually used at 200 meters and 300 meter distances, shooting paper targets. Being a competition target rifle, the weight would be 4 or 4.5kg's, I can't remember the weight, but around that.. they felt heavy at the last few shots.
Anyhuh, They make GRRRRRREAT sporting rifles and have been making them for ages.
I would shoot around 135 of 150 points, with that rifle in standing-position with no aid other than the leather carrying-strap.
142 at the most and usually around 145 with the three positions, prone, sitting and standing. 5 shots in each position, 50points max in each position.
Have in mind, that I was around 11 at the time I began and went to my first competition when I was 15.
Well, I grew quite fond of 6.5*55 as a cartridge.
I don't know if sweeden still uses it in the military, I know they used to. I believe they still have some applications for it.
Its widely used in Sweeden, that I know.
Regards
