I am a police officer on the Texas side in the Texarkana area and today my Captain and I had to go to the Arkansas side for a parole revocation hearing in reference to an arrest we'd made on one of their parolees. While sitting in the courtroom I noticed one of the parole officers sitting there in his nice blue suit. I noticed he had some strange looking soles on his footwear and after a closer look I found that he had on a very highly polished pair of "jungle boots" on . I love the South!!

stopped a a garage sale today and the 2 women running it had all the earmarks of being total leftist hillary/bernie supporters.

Can't judge a book by its cover. We ended up talking for over a half hour about what gun she should buy and what training she should get. They ended up being 2 of the nicest women I have met in a long time. One was 9 months pregnant, big as a house, and worried about what firearm would be the best for her at home. They other one ended up being a closet prepper and we had some interesting sidebars on canning food and storing water.

At the end of the day I concluded there are more people gearing up to face adverse conditions than you would think. Made me hopeful. I like to picture my fellow Americans as a scrappy bunch and these 2 women fit the bill.

Jimmie Johnson, company man: his daughter's initials are 'GM'

We all have different ways of showing our loyalty to our favorite companies. Some of us wear their t-shirts, some of us write songs in their honor, some of us even get tattoos to brand ourselves forever with our corporate love.

But Jimmie Johnson, as he so often does, has gone and trumped us all. As reported first on Johnson's Twitter feed @DoubleJ48, the family has named his brand-new daughter Genevieve Marie.

Genevieve Marie. Initials GM. As in "General Motors." Get where we're going now?

Yes, Johnson, who owns a Chevrolet dealership and drives a Chevy Impala that ends up in victory lane rather often, has -- intentionally or not -- named his daughter after his chosen auto manufacturer. Yes, this could be coincidence, but do you think Johnson does anything that's not planned down to the millisecond?

Now, to be fair, Johnson's own Twitter said it was "purely coincidence" that Genevieve Marie and General Motors share initials. But it's one happy coincidence, wouldn't you say? The kid's already received several hundred million in government bailout funds.

I would like to find an affordable pair of original jungle boots,
from the 60's or early 70's. Bought a surplus pair in the early
70's and they lasted about 12-15 years, through some rough use.

The inexpensive jungle boots you get for $20-30 are great for knocking around but from my experience they only last about 4 month when you wear them 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for work. The sole usually starts to come unglued at the front. Still, for $20 they're hard to beat for an occasional work boot.

At http://www.uscav.com/index.asp they sell both the real deal and the cheap imported kind.

I'm in construction so I wear out boots pretty quick. I'm going to try the Jungle Boots with Canvas tops because of being in the Florida heat.

Try asking for ECCO Track - The Ultimate.
It's a danish boot made in coorporation with the danish variant of the sealteam. i believe the correct word is the "Danish Navy sealteam"(only better -- har har.. hehe.)

    http://www.geocities.com/dkhuntercorp/Ecco_us.html

    I have one pair of those - will N E V E R bye any other model !!!!
they're good for summer hiking, military, hiking or workuse here in Greenland even in the wintertime.
    they're soft and incredibly lightweight.

Okay okay - they're not cheap - $265,-US. (including tax and delivery, this version only sold from this site)

But if you're prepared to pay for great quality, which you'd be using for years - Ecco Track - The Ultimate is what you'd be wanting.

I had my first pair of regular Ecco Track boots for 6 years before they were worn out.
I used them mostly in the wintertime and springtime.
As long as Ecco shoes or boots are being made, that's what i'd stick with. !!!!
