Patience with age?

I guess I am getting better with age.
Picked up an Edelbrock 289 Performer intake not long ago. The previous owner had broken a bolt, even with the boss, on one of the accessory holes. Now he obviously had not heard of using anti-seize with steel bolts in aluminum. So, I used my trusty old B&D 12v drill, slowly drilled a hole near dead center all the way through the bolt. Sprayed again with some penetrant, let it sit a few minutes. Put a #4 easy out in the hole, attached a 12" Crescent wrench to it and started applying pressure. Probably sprayed the bolt 3-4 more times, and slowly applied more pressure with the wrench. Took me about 30 minutes to get the bolt out.
Many years ago, I would have used the drill press, drilled the hole through the bolt, proceeded to break about 4 easy outs, before drilling the bolt out and re-tapping the hole using up two hours in the process.
Now, if I could just find my 1/4" tap to clean the threads with.[;)]
