That mustang looked really cool and the turbos sounded great, but he still lost to a properly set up vette

I would have a set of wheelie bar with all that torque.

Dont often see wheelies down the intire 1/4 mile, good control.

Sorry Joe, it was only a 1/8 mile track, but you are right, she held nice and straight

I thought it was a bit quick, but then dismissed anyplace having a 1/8 track.

What, they couldn't find enough land for an entire track? [:)]

Back when we still ran Rialto it was a 1/8th mile. I actually prefered running the 1/8th. The 1/8th demanded perfection, everything fun in a drag race happens in the first 1/8th, the second 1/8th is just building speed and hurting parts.

I raced a few times at the old El Toro Raceway back in the 70's, just outside the Marine base. I had a 55 Chev with a 283 ci and 4 spd. Lots of fun.

I was concieved because of a car like that. Actually a 57 Chevy 210 Post with a 327 that was pulled out of a wrecked vette. My Mom was driving it and my Dad wanted to drive the car so he asked her out. 45 years later the story and the car are legends in my family

Um, Yea, building speed and hurting parts is what the fans come to see!

The real Drivers and Mechanics could handle it!

Whats next, seeing who can rev there engines the loudest? [:(]

That is what fans come to see from the pros, they can (almost) afford the $10,000 per pass that it takes to run Top Fuel. As a sportsman racer, that doesn't have more money that brains, I do not want to break anything. A new motor for my old Super Comp Dragster would run over $30,000, so if I could extend the life of that engine by not running it so hard, I will. As a sportsman racer I never had a fan give me a dime for giving a good show, so no, I raced for me, not for the guy in the stands who never gave the time to understand index racing.

Would the Mustang have won if its front tires were on the ground. Since he would have tripped the finish line Lights with his rear tires.

Hard to say. A lot of excess drag with your front wheels that high in the air.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I love wheelie cars & trucks......

However, it seems like the ones that are real low to the ground always win.
