The Democrats - react to, not prevent, terrorism!

The Democrats seem to have forgotten this week that the President vowed to Americans that he would pursue, root out and destroy terrorism proactively. It's very easy to say we have to wait for provocation, but will Americans put up with another attack the size of 9/11 whose weapons turn out to have been sourced by Iraq? Do the Dems really want to be that thoroughly discredited as a party?

The Israelis REACT to terror attacks; they use the "proportional response" method. We never signed on for that. We originally claimed the falling of the Twin Towers, the attack on the Pentagon, and the falling of 4 jetliners was an act of war, and that we would pursue terrorism and the elements of terror to PREVENT, not REACT, to further attacks. The Dems know very well that anything the Iraqis have can be bought with Al Qaeda millions any day of the week for use against us or our allies. Have the Democrats forgotten that little eventuality?

The fact that the Dems are knocking Bush for pursuing Iraq's "weapons of mass destruction" -- which nobody seems to think he doesn't have -- tells me they are making political hay at the possible expense of -- Bush standing down, and another major terror attack taking place with Iraqi-supplied cheap weapons, whether chemical or bio-medical terror.

We are already taking a close look at both the Malaria and the West Nile mosquitos. We can't wait for the smoking gun. As somebody said last night, "A smoking gun has already been fired." Very good point. Bush can't wait for the smoking gun. The Democrats are entitled to an American congressional "lively debate," but some of them are cutting it close to irresposibility, if not treason. Are the Democrats willing to roll the dice and perhaps allow another 9/11, in order to steal back the White House?

Well, Republicans react to terror as well, since Bush's FBI had the info needed to stop 9/11. In stopping 9/11 the Bush administration failed badly, and now they are reacting badly. Instead of giving the FBI a good butt kicking, Bush/Ashcroft seek to cut away at our constitutional rights, and now to start a major foreign war with a country that was not funding the 9/11 terrorists. It is against the spirit of democracy to accuse the political opposition of treason.

greetings, i feel your frustration, but all things in order, first bush should ask congress for a declaration of war ( constitutionally that is the only legal option) against al quida and ANY of its' co-beligerents.then he should call on the un to show why a state of war should not exist or to shut up. our limited warfare responce will not work against terrorism any more that our "war on drugs" has stemmed the flow of illegal drugs. there are those that believe a limited responce will give stability to the geo/political world. stable warfare will get us bogged down in a thousand little conflicts with no clear aim to win or even exit, consequently we'll wind up with another "war" of attrition wecan't hope to win. respt submitted dads-freehold

In fairness, the look on Bush's face alone will tell you he had no foreknowledge of the 9/11 plan. If the FBI had the raw data, they didn't get it processed, or didn't take it seriously enough. Everyone I've heard talk about 9/11 has one thing in common -- nobody could believe it even while it was happening, and all say they never expected something like this. I'm well aware that there was "talk" among baddies of using planes, and even of a plot to blow up a dozen over the Pacific -- but using them as missiles in a coordinated attack? Unless you are a conspiracy theorist on this, which I am not, I think it's understandable that this was deemed a true surprise attack, like Pearl Harbor. There are conspiracy theorists about that too of course. But all things considered, I'll stand by the sentiments in my previous post. Even those who criticize Bush at the moment for not making his case are saying he could do it if he chose to make one more speech to the American people. Just because we don't know it all doesn't mean it isn't all there. Saddam's money and weapons, and Al Qaeda's cells and fanaticism were made for each other, and I think everybody now knows that the only way to attack a superior military force (like Israel or the US) is by terrorism -- and the bigger the act, the better. They kill Israelis by the busload. They would like to kill us city by city. And they have the raw materials to do it. So do you pre-empt, or do you debate while they make the bombs, poisons, gases, and viruses? You can act, or react. In the new world order, guess what? Pre-emptive strikes are rapidly becoming the order of the day, if they will avoid repeats of 9/11. Americans won't put up with terror attacks any more than they put up with no gas in the 70s. They would have the administration's hide, whichever party was in power, if terrorism in the US continued. A couple more large acts in this country and the citizens will GIVE away their civil rights in exchange for security -- you ain't seen nothin' yet in that regard. The alternative for us conservatives? Hit them before they can hit us, and hit every potential source. Give the cells noplace to buy their goods. If they can buy nothing bigger than an RPG or a LAWS rocket, at least they'll be limited to taking down one airliner at a time. That's nothing, relatively speaking, given the ripe targets in America. Unless you want ebola or hanta virus over here, or see them gas an entire Superbowl some day, better give somebody free reign to gather the intelligence and surgically remove the "evil ones." If you can't do that, better vote for Gore next time and watch him "negotiate" and "coalition build." The Dems are good at coalition building. They just can't agree what to do after they build one. Meanwhile, hawks have their hands tied, and Americans die here rather than overseas, and in larger numbers, I'll betcha.

I'm not saying Bush knew. But FBI Minneapolis and FBI in Arizona were sending reports to DC about Arabs and flight schools. Minneapolis had captured the 20th hijacker. I cant believe you do not know of these reports. FBI DC had the info needed to stop the attacks and they blew it, and the CIA screwed up too.

There is and always has been a plan to use aircraft for terrorist acts. The Bush administation had no idea what was going to happen otherwise they would have prevented it. This administation has not been perfect but Bush is not the kind of guy to let this happen.

offeror is the first one here that has mentioned that the West Nile Virus could have been planted here by Terrorist, specificcally Iraq, that I have read.

I heard this on the news about a month ago and meant to put in on this board and forgot to.

I'd almost like to see the terrorists strike again amidst the BS opposition Daschle, Kennedy and the rest of these DemoCrap scumbags are throwing up. These dunderheads are the reason this scum was able to get into the country w/o impediment, the reason (going back to Jimmy the Peanut) they thought they could get away with it, the reason (going back to Frank Church) the intelligence community didn't have the resources to prevent it. I realize I will be flamed if not investigated, but I sure wish Daschle & company had received a lethal dose of anthrax last fall! As far as I'm concerned, they are no better than the terrorists, in fact, worse. These liberal maggots are a pox on our society.

I'm sure not siding with the idiot that sent the anthrax in the mail, (that was really stupid) but it does seen strange that they thought enough of Daschle to send some to him.

In my opinion, he's the worst of the worst - and he thinks HE'S the President. I'd like to see him dethroned, removed from office as a traitor or at least beaten out of office by someone running against him.

Of course, he's a master politician and that probably won't happen -- but I can HOPE!
