Road trip - Baltimore, NYC and DC

Well we five made it back from the East coast with lots of memories. Over all a great time held by all, 3500+ miles with three kids (17-9) and no intentional Blood shed! And it is my humble opinion that NYC cabbies are much more polite than the breed of cabbies found in Las Vegas. Not that it matters, just a point of interest.

Baltimore was relaxing, TREXPO was okay, I was surprised by the fact that new promoters were holding the show. Not good. Example would be the instructions handed out during the show directing attendees to the WRONG range. That left 30-45 folks to shoot all that ammo supplied by the likes of Colt and HK as well as some crazy frangible ammo that was demonstrated, very cool. Point and grunt and you got to shoot it. First shot from the suppressed HK Tactical resulted in the can falling to the floor. Instructor assured me that was not normal. (so once he was distracted I unscrewed it again then moved to the UMP in .45 ...;) ) Range day was great fun not so good for business but hey, this was a mixed trip right.

Ft McHenry was very good, yes we bought a flag, like that was an option? The Aquarium was very good as well.

NYC, what can I say, I never thought I'd like it so much. From the top of the Empire State Building you could hear the sounds of the city. Strange. Anger towards terrorist nations were re-kindled when denied entrance into the Statue of Liberty. Then as we walked to Ground Zero it set in. That's not to say I'm angry all the time, but my mind is made up about such people that hate Americans. As I looked at that hole, it was my prayer that we as a nation never forget what Evil is capable of if not kept in check. Anyhow, lots to see and eat and buy and see and......... too much for one lifetime I'm afraid. We'll go back someday.

Washington DC, Having seen that stuff all my life in photos or on TV then to see it in person was unreal. Did all we could walked miles every day there and had a blast. One thing I found interesting was our Nations Capital. I was always impressed by the photos of, say the Russian government buildings for example, of the opulence. The painstaking work that went into such buildings, the Gold leaf, carved stone as well as wood marble floors and art work. I'm here to say we got some too! Wow! Weird was looking out from Washington's monument towards the Pentagon and seeing a jet making it's way in that direction......(anger justified...) The Viet Nam memorial, we went twice, once in the day once at night. At night from the distance as people walked along the path by the wall it was only when they passed a light did you see them. This made for a feeling of Soldiers of wars past paying tribute.

I don't know, I just hope our kids got as much from this trip as their parents did. If you get a chance, go.
