Finally made changes to my 10/22 today with the addition of a Butler Creek folding stock, 25rnd mag, and a red dot. It folds down to a little over 2 feet in length. Quite different from the original hardwood stock.

What modifications have ya'll meddled with on 10/22s?

So who's got one, and what did ya do to it?

I'm looking for ideas... mods, accessories, mags, scopes...can't do bullpup as I'm a southpaw on the long gun...but just looking for ideas to play.

This one is gonna be my play toy.

is there any single part of this gun that cannot be purchased after market?

I said in an earlier post that I never had the desire to upgrade or customize a gun. I never realized there were so many options out there. Stocks, triggers, barrels (including blue!) Matter of fact the ONLY thing I haven't seen was a bolt.

Just shot my heavy barreled 10/22 for the first time today, this thing is a blast. If youve been putting off buying that .920 barrel, go for it you wont be disappointed. I shot almost a brick of cheapo .22 and the darn thing dosent even have sights on it yet. Just needs a nice red dot and itll be ready for fall squirrel hunting.

I just put one of these trigger kits on my 10/22:
Volquartsen Bolt Release and Target Hammer Ruger 10/22

    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/510211/volquartsen-bolt-release-and-target-hammer-ruger-10-22-black

What a difference it made! It was not hard to install(watched the youTube vid on how to do it) and I like how the bolt release works but the trigger pull...............Wow!! It went from about 8-9#'s to around 3.5# pull. I almost had an AD when I went out back to test fire it.

I have 2 Ruger 10/22's One is a frankingun I put together from parts and has a Heavy Barrel and a Thumbhole stock. This is the rifle I put the trigger on. I am going to get another kit for a SS Manlincher stocked 10/22 I have. I don't shoot it much because of the lousy trigger and prefer to squirrel hunt with my M581 but that may change.
