Olympic Arms Ar 15?

Are the Olypics any good? I am thinking of an Ar 15 in .223. I have been looking at the Ak's but am leaning towards the Ar's. I really can't spend $1000 or more right now, so I was looking at the Olympics. I would appreciate any advice. Ar or Ak? Olympic Arms or maybe the Hesse's (spelling?). Thanks.

Rock River Arms make EXCELLENT post ban AR-type rifles and they are not too expensive. They have a real nice Tactical Carbine which is a 16" upper in M-4 configuration but the post ban lower has a cut down version of the A2 stock which looks MUCH better than those rediculous fake collapsable stocks.

    Josey -
Now you've gone and done it. I like these TOO well. Yes, Olympic makes good guns too, in answer to the question -- but I do like these post-ban tactical carbines by RR. Thanks for the tip. For new guys on the block, they seem to have the right idea.

I own an Olympic AR-15 type rifle and I like it fine. Well-built, accurate and functions perfectly.

My Oly's great! You can get them anyway you want, and they are low priced. I've seen the plinker for $599. I gave $640 for mine out the door, a2 sights and a 16in heavy barrel. I'm in the process of building one with a 24in barrel. If you get a chance, check out their web-site.

The only think I don't like about the pre-ban Oly's is the telescopic stock. I think it's great that it is a 4-position stock but that darn plastic material it is made of feels so stinking cheap.

My Olympic is a pre-ban (serial number dates it to June of '94) but it has the conventional fixed stock. Did most of them come with the tele-stock? I bought mine used, but barely used. It also has the match grade barrel. Very accurate.
