Llama or Colt

I'm in the market for a new 1911 style .45. My dilemma is I don't know if the Colt is worth the extra money that I could save by buying the Llama. Can someone help me out?

If you are planning on building a full on custom gun the Llama would be ok.But if its a buy it and leave it like it is COLT.If you want a good fairly inexspensive 1911 style .45 get a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec.

I've heard the Llamas are a crap shoot. Sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you get a bad one. I'm with Mudge the Magnificent, get a Colt, it will hold it's value better and plus you'll have a REAL Pony gun, not just an imitation.

There are a lot of good 1911's besides Colt on the market, but Llama is not one of them. If you think Colt is overpriced for what you get, Llama is way overpriced,
for what you get. Look up Llama in most dictionarys and there's only one definition. Junk!

I own a Llama Max-1,and one of my buddies has a Colt 1991.His Colt is VERY finicky about what you feed it.My Llama is not pickey at all.And his Colt is only marginally more accurate.I guess I got lucky.

I know a guy who's first gun was a 10 shot Llama Mini-Max and it was a damn good gun for what he paid as long as he shot FMJ.But he would chamber a good JHP and have the clip loaded with FMJ and it was flawless as far as I saw.

greetings, let us look at this from a non emotive state. first off colts tho impressive when doctored up are notoriously inaccurate out of the box, and for that inaccuracy you pay a steep price. llamas are a cheaper clone that is quite accurate out of the box, but very few assories will fit it, plus the extractor is a weak point with this particular weapon. thus in my opinion neither is worth the green, esp. with the selection out there, springfield armoury, kimber (pricey, but twice the colt),essex (sells parts so you can make your own), so you get my drift, don't settle for a name or a nice finish, it ain't a car but it might save your life. respt submitted dads-freehold
