Wow, the generosity of the Titanic Cast!

Seems that the last survivor of the Titanic disaster is having to sell off some mementos to pay for her nursing home care. The lady was 2 years old when the ship went down in 1912. Kate Winslett, Leonardo DiCaprio and the director of the film (that made millions), James Cameron, have donated $30,000 to the poor old woman to help out with her expenses! Now I know that they did not have to do anything at all, but c'mon...$30K???? Between the three millionairs, thats all they could come up with, a measly 30K???? I bet that James Cameron spends 30K a month on pet food!

So they made a movie about the Titanic? That doesn't mean they "owe" the lady anything. Regardless of how rich they are, $30,000 is a lot of money. At least they did something......how much did YOU give her?

Maybe more will be given as needed, large sums of money have a tendency to make the honest, dishonest. Who holding onto the loot ??

You guys are missing my point, but thats ok. And no, I gave nothing as I am not in a position to donate, not wealthy, not a millionair, just thought it was cheesy of the three of them together to only come up with that drop in the bucket.

Do you really think 30K is alot of money to someone like Cameron...or Trump? Trump spends that much for his bad haircuts!

You know what though, they did something that probably paid for the rest of her care for the rest of her life who knows[;)] I think its very respectable what they did[^]

Nope. I think it's a lot of money to the lady receiving it.

Kudos to the people that made the donation.

    The rest is insignifant fluff.

I don't think the size of their income should have any relevence to the size of their donation.

If $30,000 was enough to get a poor old lady out of a tough spot what difference does it make how much cash the people who gave her the money have in the bank?

    The OP WREAKS of socialism.

Who cares if they made BILLIONS off that movies? They GAVE from the kindness of their own hearts. Where is the requirement to PAY anyone who survived the Titanic?

Did they renig on some contract to her? I don't think so.

If she was 2 in 1912 when the Titanic sank she should be 99 now. 30,000 is very likely to pay her bills the rest of he life. Not much sense in donating too much so people worry about who gets the money instead of taking car of her.

No good deed goes unbitched about, eh? Perhaps they shouldn't have done anything Chris?

I heard this on the news and got a laugh out of it too. Should've never done a press release about it.

Figure they are each giving her $10K that she doesn't need to claim as income and be taxed on it.

Exactly! They don't owe her anything just because she was there ... at 2 years old I doubt she could have contributed anything to the movie.

Also, if she were to pass-on next week ... then who would benefit from the donated proceeds?

Kudos to Kate Winslett, Leonardo DiCaprio and James Cameron!

cnsay said........"30,000 is very likely to pay her bills the rest of he life........"

Depends on the care received and how much longer she lives. Around Southern Ca with the goverment involved I figure the money would last 5-6 months.
