Prayer Request For Devastated Family

nunnnunn Forums Admins, Member, Moderator Posts: 36,085 ******
edited August 2002 in General Discussion
My mother just called me with some terrible news.

I have a cousin, about 3 years older than me, in North Little Rock, AR. He is Bill McIntyre and his wife is Brenda. They are devout Christians and members of the Baptist Church.

Bill's mother, Ella Fae Pate, and my mother are about the same age, and are very close. Bill and I were very close growing up, and have remained in touch.

We stopped off at their home and visited with them for a few hours on our way home from vacation.

Bill and Brenda's younger son, Derek, aged 21, was killed in a car wreck this morning about 3 am.

I am heartbroken for my cousin. This is just about the worst thing that can happen to a parent. I know their grieving is terrible.

Please lift this family up in prayer. They are dear people.

They also have no money. Brenda works but Bill is disabled due to two heart attacks and severe diabetes. He is trying to get Social Security disability, but is running into the usual roadblocks. They live in the same tiny house they bought right after they married 25 years ago and they still owe on it.

If anyone wants to contribute to help with funeral expenses, I will see that Bill gets it. If anyone wants to send a card or anything directly to the family:

Bill and Brenda McIntyre
1033 Healy
North Little Rock, AR. 72117-4550

Thank you all for your support.

I am truly sorry to hear that nunn, as you said there could be no greater tragedy as a parent than to loose a child. My prayers are with your family and I hope you the best. How is your son getting along by the way?

Nunn......My family will be praying for them and you. I can't imagine anything worse then losing one of my boys or our grandkids. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughters recent brush with death shows me how precious our kids our to us. Too often, we take it for granted that they will always be with us.

As good as done. God knows our hearts before we even speak but he still likes to hear it from us personally. I will pray for them.

God bless you, Blue Tic, and anyone else who can afford to send even a twenty.

My son Travis offered up a twenty. Proud of that boy.

Bluetic what you said for some reason grabbed my attention.I hope you read this.It means more for a poor man to give $20.00 than it does for a rich man to give a $1000.00.I assume were all middle class Americans who are all blessed in many ways.If every one on this forum would send only $5.00 look how it would add up to,and help this family who is going to be in need for a while.Im going to do all I can which isnt much. But together we make up alot of not much's.As nothing we can do will fill the gap this family now has.But we can help in some ways.Bluetic you have my respect.

    Deepest Sympathy.

You know, I look at my boys. One is moved out, one in mid-teens, and another coming up. And I thank God they are all still here and still healthy, and I cannot even imagine the pain of losing one of them.

The people on this board are the best bunch of friends I know.

This trully is a catastrophy for parents! I don't know what I would do if this happened to my wife and I.
I will pray that the good lord will send the comforter to your cousin and his wife. I will also send a bit of money as soon as my social security check comes.

Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

    David,

They are in our prayers. Should I send the money directly to their address, or did you want me to send it to you, then you forward it. If your going to be in the Dallas area, or I will be heading down I-30 to Sulphur Springs tomorrow, I'll be glad to meet you somewhere and drop off the cash.

UPDATE: Funeral is 10 am Monday at the North Little Rock Funeral Home. We will be leaving right after church Sunday to drive up there.

About expenses: Family members have come through nicely. Not to say that any contributions won't be appreciated and put to good use, but the situation is not as critical as it appeared at first.

Please continue to bless this family with your prayers and good thoughts.

Thank you all from the depths of my soul.

My thoughts and prayers are with your cousin. I have children of my own and sometimes it seems you live your whole life just for them. It's tragic when you survive them. Condolences to all,God bless.
