they plan it and practice. it's an operation. give them all the damn fly time they want. this is just another benefit of having them up there.

your state representative pissed away more money than used in all the flyovers done last season..

Does it really matter anymore? The US hasn't worried about actually trying to pay for military endeavors (or anything else for that matter) since selling war bonds during WWII.

The 'imaginary' thousands it takes to cover the cost of these fly-overs is no different than the 'imaginary' billions that are being spent to cover Iraq and Afghanistan. What difference does it really make anymore? Why even pretend that the federal govt. works like a household budget? We send them 'X' amount of dollars. They spend it all and go billions....sorry.... a trillion beyond that amount EVERY YEAR now. A few grand?
I say let's just enjoy the fly-overs while it lasts.

If you want to see a great military exercise/show, go to the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, NC, on Memorial Day Weekend. There are flyovers, Army Golden Knights, and Army SOAR choppers that put on a great display. Whatever it cost, the chance for our military people to show off their hardware and skills to the public is worth it. Whenever you can see the Golden Knights, Thunderbirds, or Blue Angels, go and see them. They are all great and indicative of ALL our men and women in the military.

I'm glad you all like the displays, and undoubtedly they will keep happening. I think it's a waste. But maybe during my 20 years of service I have seen them enough times that I don't consider it impressive anymore.

What I do with my money is none of your business. What the government does with my money IS my business.

    See a difference there?

I suppose they could buy the planes, train the pilots and then let them all sit and rot. Imagine the money that would save, huh?

Speaking as a former military pilot, high-performance jets are not like bicycles - you do NOT know how forever. It takes constant, intense practice. If some of that practice time can be arranged so that the folks who pay for it get to see it up close, that's bonus for everyone involved.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

For Our Boys and Girls to remain Sharp, they have to train. That requires "Real World" Seat Time. What Better way to inculcate the precision and control required than to combine a training mission with some PR? No "extra" expense, and Lotsa Goodwill Generated, Guntech!

They are up in the air practicing ANYWAY which has an intrinsic value. What is the value of instilling pride in those of us that don't hate the Country??? How about the joy of little kids everywhere? How about as a recruiting tool? It's clear that you think the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds are a waste too. Luckily someone at a higher pay grade than you can see the value in it.

I am not a football fan, or any other big sport for that matter, but I agree these flyovers are money well spent. The pilots and their support crews need to train and keep sharp. And what an impact! Great video -- thanks for sharing it!

    It's not waste, it's a "Parade".

Parades are as old as The Army.

NASCAR has some of the best "fly-bys"... IMHO

But the sports other than NASCAR are a huge waste though, a total distraction from The War.

It's seat time, training that they need anyway and it is COOL AS HELL!! I have seen Apaches at Indy, Stealths at Talladega, and countless Fighters at other events and everytime, I am filled with pride and awe with these pilots and machines.
