US Postal Service

A week ago today I tried to ship (2) rifles to FFL's which were sold on GB. The clerk took the guns, I paid my money and was on my way. An hour later I was notified by same clerk that the Postmaster "did not think they can ship guns". I had to picked them up and was refunded my money.
After I recited chapter and verse their own shipping policy he said he would get back to me.After (1) he has not.
Does anyone know if I have and recourse with this person?

I read an article that stated the Postal Service was the only Goverment Agency that pays for its self.Meaning they do not depend on any other Goverment funding. It actually said extra funds from the Postal Service were used for other Goverment Programs. Why has the cost of a little stamp become so unreasonable?

That article wasn't exactly telling the truth. The postal service gets money from congress to help defray the cost of your congressman mailing his BS to you at a cut rate discount. But that is the only money the post office gets from the US Treasury. They are sort of a government owned business that is supposed to either make a profit or at least break even. Trouble with the post office at least when I worked for it was that they had 1 mid level manager for every 5 employees. Top heavy on the management side. Cost of mailing a letter from Alaska to New York is still cheaper than any other method of sending a letter. U.S. Postal Service still has the lowest rates in the world.

The cost of postage in th US is cheaper than any other industrial nation. Adjusted for inflation it is cheaper than it ever was except for when it was subsidized by the government.

Im tired of the USPS and various goernment agencies crying about how the internet is hurting the USPS's buisness. In my opinion with the popularity of online auctions and other ecommerce the use of the USPS surely has increased as a direct result. I use the USPS 99% of the time when shipping an item and I usually make 2 to 3 trips a week to the local post office to either send or receive packages. So I believe the internet has helped the USPS more than hurt it!!
