Good to go, or did I just waste $100? Looks like the older model, but appears to be in great shape.

I have recently bought a benelli nova. I like it very much. I had a 870, and sold it to get a auto 12 guage. I never looked at the prices of these autos, my stupidity. I couldn't beleive the prices of them. So I researched, and bought the nova. Straight out of the box, I think its much better than the 870. My only gripe is the lack of accesories available for the nova. I have a Benelli catalog, and in the main Nova section it states they have a 2 or 4 round extension for it. In the parts section, it only lists a 2 round. I emailed Benelli, and they say only a 2 round. Does anyone know of a larger mag extension for the nova by aftermarket? I have also been looking for a different buttpad for it. The Nova comes with a solid rubber buttpad. Their catalog list different pads for the 20 gauge Nova, but not the 12. I also see extended chokes for the nova. What are the advantages of these? I use the gun for trap, and started with the IC choke. I switched to the Modified, and have shot much better with it. My catalog also states that Tom Knapp shot 8 clays by himself before they hit the ground with a Nova. The stock nova is 4+1, with the extension it would be 6+1. In my book that's 7, not 8.

Still in the market for a good defense 12 gauge. Picked up a Benelli Nova at gander mountian today and was surprised by the price tag. Only about 400. Anybody got any experience. Thinking about buying one this week if I dont get any significant negative feedback.

Has anyone fired a Nova 12 ga. that had a recoil depresser installed?

sorry about the double post. I received a "time out" error when trying to post. I backtracked, and posted again. I didn't think the original post worked.

Most extended choke tubes I have seen are for steel/lead/Bismuth shot. Most flush mount tubes are made for lead or Bismuth only. With my Ruger Red Label the flush mounted tubes are made for steel. Browning flush mounted tubes will handle lead or steel with the exception of the full choke that will only handle lead. My Browning 10 gauges of which I have 2, the BPS and the Gold and my Ithaca Mag 10 will shoot steel shot with the flush mounted tubes down to improved modified. I bought after market extended tubes for shooting steel through my Rem 870 12 3.5". In my Baikal 20 gauge O/U I shoot Bismuth and Tungsten-Iron, but it has fixed chokes. In my Stoeger 12 O/U I shoot Bismuth only.

The tightest choke that I can use with steel shot is the Modified, per the instructions. That's what i'm using now. I'm not using steel shot anyway for trap. The place I shoot at must have thousands of tons of led there. The scary part is the range is surrounded by cornfields. I'm not sure what the impact in the corn is, but its the only place I can shoot where I live.
