Saw on the news yesterday where some dude named Rodrigez (sp) was given 225 million for a 10 yr contract,, that boils down to 22and 1/2 million a year.

What the hell is going on? It isnt the team owners that are paying his salery. it is the idiots that spend a couple hundred bucks to attend the fiasco,s called a ball game. 5 bucks for a hot dog, JEEEEZ

I dont think anyone should get that kind of money to play a kids game.

They are so damn money hungry that they stopped the little league,s from using logos like YANKEES, REDS, BRAVES, unless they paid for the name.

PRO BALL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

If the people paying the bills stop coming, the owners won't have money to pay these pampered p***sies. I really enjoy watching a good baseball game, but the $$$$$$$$$$$$ of professional sports turned me off years ago. Babe Ruth and younger - when the players are still there for the game, not the money.

Is it true? A little league team can't call themselves by a big league name unless they pay royalties? When I was playing little league in the '50s and '60s EVERY team in the league was named Yankees, Mets, Red Sox etc. It was a way of honoring the pros, whom we idolized. Now they charge a usage fee, the greedy owners are distancing themselves from the kids, who are the future of their game. The owners and the players are greedy. Screw those pampered millionares, I hope they go on strike and attendance drops by 50% and half the teams go broke.

Look around. It's not just baseball; it's all professional sports. And not just sports. Is Tom Cruise worth $20 million a movie? Are those lamers from "Friends" worth $750K an episode? Unfortunately for this country, people are paid based on the money they make for other people, not on the basis of what they contribute to society. That's why Mr. Rodriquez makes more in an inning than our best cancer research scientists make in two years.

    Classic....it wasn't $225M for 10 years it was $252M for 10 years. Obscene

Speaking of Little League. Did anybody watch the LL World Series? I did and I loved it. Now that's a REAL WORLD Series. All the teams were teriffic EXCEPT the team from Harlem. What a bunch of HOT DOGS. Nobody else did any of that "look at me" crap. They learned all that sh$t from the pros. When they lost to Kentucky a couple of them wouldn't even participate in the "high five" ceremony. They need to be taught a lesson in sportsmanship. Overall, the hitting left a little to be desired but the pitching was great.

Speaking of golf being boring, would it be any more interesting if they put in a 30 second shot clock?

I agree. Sliding into third in the rain makes tu-tu's positively unsightly.

The reason the Little League World Series was so great was exactly why the Professional Ball games aren't so hot. Little League plays for the love of the game. Most (NOT ALL!!) pros play for the love of the $$$. When you make 252 million regardless of how you do, where is the incentive to try?

I agree. I watched the Little League World series. It was much better than professional baseball. I really liked the 100+ mph fastballs.
