Trout fishin'

I went fishin' tonight at a local stream that I go to once in a while. I ended up with an 18" native brown. I was wondering if anyone on here does any trout fishing? If so, what streams do you go to and what kind of fish do you usually get?

Up to about 7 years ago I loved to fish for trout, but I went to working day shift and did not take the time to fish.I caught a 4# trout one time and lost it on the bank,my buddy caught it about a week later and give me my hook back. After that I learned to tie knots better.

"It was like that when I got here".

In the late 70's/early 80's while attending College and Grad School, I spent every Spring Break in southern Missouri fishing in the White River. We used to catch Rainbows and Brownies. The biggest one I ever caught there was 3lbs 14oz. (Rainbow) I have to got to go back there some day.

Three times in the last 10 years, I have had the opportunity to fish
in Lake Michigan. We have limited out each trip. The first trip I took, one of the guys in our group caught a 17 pound 2 oz. Rainbow.
The best I have caught is a 12 lb. Rainbow and several lake trout over 10 lbs.

The sad thing about Lake Michigan fish is that it is recommended that you eat less than a pound every couple of weeks or so.

Well let's see. I fish the George river, the Kwethluk river, the Kisaralik river, the Kasigluk river, the Holitna and Hoholitna rivers, the Aniak river, the Oskawalik river and the Houlakuk river. Fish for the Leopard species of the Rainbow Trout, Grayling, Char, Sheefish, King Salmon, Silver Salmon and Northern Pike.

    aglore,
You are one lucky son of a gun. I have to drive thirteen hours and get to Utah for any decent fish. Usually combine w/ Deer hunting. All these stocked lakes and rivers are history/not my cup of beer/ once the rug rat parents go on vacation end of June. 101

Don't know if I'm lucky or not. The closest of those rivers is a 65 mile round trip boat ride and the farthest is a 650 mile roundtrip boat ride. With a 150 HP outboard running at 4200 RPM burning 8 gallons an hour at $2.62 a gallon. It gets kind of spendy going fishing every weekend in the summer. During moose season I'll put 2,000 to 2,500 miles on my boat in a 10-15 day trip.

I fish the Clinch River in Eastern TN. It usually takes about two hours to get my limit of seven fish, mostly stocked rainbows, around two pounds, but a few very nice native browns.

I do some fly fishing for native brook trout in Southwestern PA. There's alot of nice small mountain streams that don't draw a crowd. The fish are smallish but their coloration is absolutely beautiful...makes for a peaceful afternoon of fishing

1600 miles of trout streams in S. East Mn. Browns Brookies and some Rainbow only 25 miles away. I don't fish it like I used to but still get out a little.

    pigeoncreek1,
Are you from southwest PA? If so, which town? Almost all of my relatives live there!
