I love stone and heavy wooden beam construction.[8D]
Get that buncha rocks good and hot, and you wouldn't need a fire for days!

What does something like that cost for materials and labor to build ?
I imagine it's kind of like a Ferrari, if you have to ask.....it doesn't matter.
edit: That's beautiful. Well done.
You got it! It's kinda like s Ferrari [:D]
What metrics did they use to place the order... Go to the top with room enough for Santa, his pack and 3 or 4 reindeer? [:)]
Nice work.
BTW I've been rockin my fine Tacconelli Masonry tee around Virginia!
From the photos, looks like you would be able to stand upright inside the fireplace and still have room over your head.Being able to walk around inside the firebox is probably convenient. [:D]
That is just beautiful! Or as my Grandpas old friend who was a stone mason would say, "Not Beautiful, is PERFECT"
What is that a 2X6 holding everything up? How do you keep it from burning when you light the fire? Ya should have used a metal sud....[;)][:D]

the steelworkers have fabricated a large steel heat shield that will go over that mantle completely. the steel heat shield looks really cool it has a bunch of metal studs in it to make it appear hammered into the timber.
the firebox is 6 foot tall and 6 foot wide. it is a modified Romford box with 2 24 by 24 flue liners that do not reduce down all the way to the top of 41 Foot. 44 Feet to top of cap.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
That is very impressive, thanks for the details on the size. Did you pour the cap or use flat stone? What a massive piece of art!
We built a big stone cap.
I have to wonder if the homeowner is compensating for something,[:D]

It's a dining hall for a fancy golf club.

pietro you are a master. I'd like to come up there and mix mortar for you for a week, for free, just to watch you work.
Any time, but we pay our help [;)]
Wait till you see the wine cellar I'm making in that silo that we built...
BTT.
Miss you Pietro, get back in here.
