Whats the deal with Tactical?

I was in the gun shop yesterday and a clean cut btight looking young man came in and browsed a minute then ask one of the employee's for a box of those Federal Tactical Hydra Shoks for a 9MM. The employee handed him a box of Federal Premium Hydra Shok ammo. He looked at the box briefly and said no I want the Tactical ones? The employee who I know well ask me if I had heard of them? My reply was no but I told the young man for self defense those were fine. No he insisted on those Tactical rounds. I said I bet he's talking about Hornady's Tactical Application Police ammo? He did not have any so the young man ask if we knew anyone else who carried tactical ammo. Whats the deal? If something say's tactical some have to have it,does it make them feel more secure? Maybe I should order one of those tactical ink pens, mine only has a regular light to aid in writeing at night! Of course that is if I can find one?[;)]

I'd guess he might've been looking for HST.

I spoze picking up 50 rds of white box and writing "TACTICAL" on it then tripling the price probably would've lost the customer too.

Tactical has been abused. there are truly tactical products,..and then there are those products that use a buzz word for sales purposes. The Nightforce NXS scope is REALLY a tacical product. Mcmillan tactical stocks with adjustable cheek peices and adjustable butt plates are tactical. WHY,..you may ask,.....because they are designed to handle much more abuse and still perform in the field. These type products are designed to have anyone in the team be able to adjust them to fit their stature as well as to provide instant changes in the field that allow any user to make them fit or perform without messing with adjustments or tools.

just because it is black or heavy doesn't mean it's tactical. It earns that designation through very extensive and hard testing. Few of the products that carry that name are actually capable of passing the tests by military personel. Nightforce,..Mcmillan, Leupold MK IV, Badger ordnance, IOR, are a few that HAVE BEEN tested and earned the tactical designation. If it won't take an artillery impact within close proximity and still maintain it's original setting, it FAILS.

I would definalty prefer strategic accessories over tactical ones. I rather win the war instead of the battle. What would a strategic flashlight look like?
