here's the deal. I'm right handed and right eye dominate. Due to M.S.I've lost the use of my right hand and both legs.I can shoot a 45 acp with my left hand and am training my left eye to do the work. I live in Western New York and have been deer hunting for over 31 of my 49 years. A shotgun is to the point of being to hard to move around to put on target without spooking the game. I have a pistol permit and wanted to use a handgun for deer hunting. I only want one shot or I won't take it so I've been looking at the thompson contender new, but not yet on the market yet G2. It is easier to break open than the original and you don't have to break it open to uncock it. Pistols here are restricked to .357 and up with most people being told not to shoot at deer with a .357 beyond 10 yrds. My questions are what cal. can I handle that will give me 100 to 150 yrds. out that won't tear the gun out of my stronger but still the weaker than my pre-M.S. right hand, what about a break and about a grip? I'm thinking Holosight for eyes;what do you think? I've gone years without pulling the trigger in those 31 yrs. but have two 8 pts. with 20" inside spread, a 11 pt. with appx. 24" inside and a 17 pointer that doesn't have great spread but a great deal of mass and main beams that come within 1/2 of touching each other hanging on the wall. These all came from one slug each from a 1100 smooth bore with a max. range of 135 yrds. I only mention this to give background info. If it isn't what I know I can do with one shot and what I myself think is special, I'll pass and enjoy. Tell me your ideas, two heads are better than one! I have a special permit to hunt off the back of my ATV. Help me Ronda as the Beach Boys would say!

Thanks to all and remember that when you don't feel like getting up or the weather is to bad or the games comming on that might be your last best chance. Give me one more shot.
feel like getting up or the weathere weather is bad or the games' on, on...remember it could be your last best chance.

I just saw that TC has bolt action guns. I thought they primarily dealt with single shot guns? Hmm, has anyone ever fired one of these rifles? What did you think?[?]

Hochey13: the Holosight would be my first choice just as you stated, as far as cal. goes the 357 mag will take deer out to 75 to 100 yards if you do your part and use the right bullet, but the 44 mag would be better if you can handel the recoil,, maybe start out with the 357 and add different cal. as you get stronger.
the 30-30 and the 7-30 waters are both good rounds in the contender but i think the recoil would be to much for you ,,
Also go to www.treelounge.com and check out their shooting sticks they sell one that will clamp right on the forearm of the contender and is adjustable in lenght, it looks like it could maybe be a big help for you , hope some of this helps and good luck !!

.357 & .44 mag are good cal. you might also consider a .41 mag, that
might help you with the recoil problem found in the .44 mag.

hockey, you might want to look at the 14" Contender (if they get the new G2 out in time!) in 7-30 Waters. Put a decent break (or get it ported) and a Holosight. This will give you the 150 yards you want and as much as I like the .41 Rem Mag, it really isn't (nor is ANY pistol cartridge) a viable 150 yard weapon. An alternate caliber would be 30-30 but there is an increase in recoil over the 7-30 Waters. Hope this helps, keep us posted and I expect to see some Pope and Young class photos in December.
    Good Luck.

Several Options there fellow hunter..(1) shortin ur shooting distance to under 75-80 yards and go with the .357 or .44 or .41. all good rounds with the right load..I either use my 629 classic/scoped or my 35 remington contender/scoped..either way they can be a hadfull..best combo sound like a scoped contender in the round you can handle..
