the misses just got me a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x40 AO for $175 dont know much about this scope. did she get a decent deal? they also gave her a leupold "long range" base. what is the difference between this one and the standard base I already have. they look exactly the same except the "LR" marking whats the deal?

You did get a good deal on it. As far as the base goes, I don't see a Long Range base listed in my flyer. I presume it's a long base made for extra long scopes to keep the rings farther apart.

The long range base gives you more elevation. Used for shooting long
range where you would run out of elevation. But I believe it gives
you less on the downward side.

LR bases are quite common. Are higher in the rear usually from 0.010-.020. Gives extra elevation for longer shots, and doesn't screw up the scope internals.

    Ie., say it's 0.010" rise. You'll get 10'@100, 20"@200, 30" @300 yds.

These are also used because some receivers are not in spec (too low), and many long range cartridges need the extra rise due to common problems with scope adjustments.

Depending on your rig, it's not always aviseable to use.

    Happy Bullet Holes!
