No More 'Pro-Gun' Politicians!
By Carma Lewis
To say that this upcoming election year will be important to the pro-freedom movement is an understatement. But in deference to the NRA, who is calling for support of pro-gun candidates, I submit an alternative to you. It is time for Americans to start electing pro-Constitution candidates!
I have had my fill of the so-called pro RKBA politicians, like John McCain, Arlen Specter and George Pataki to name a few. Even our so-called pro-gun President, George W. Bush has been a major disappointment to the RKBA community with his reluctance to arm pilots. If these politicians are truly pro RKBA, let their actions rule the justification for their re-elections.
Whenever a self-proclaimed pro-gun politician votes for any legislation that restricts the use, ownership, caliber, capacity or origin of manufacture of any type of firearm they become an anti-gun hypocrite thereby nullifying their suitability for public office.
We have over 20,000 gun laws on the books now that were put there by "pro-gun" legislators. The only difference between these politicians and the anti-gun bigots is that pro RKBA legislators believe that there is an individual right to own firearms, but they want to control who owns a gun, what kind of gun, how many bullets the gun can hold and a myriad of other illegal restrictions.
There is nothing in "shall not be infringed" that gives Congress the power to legislate anything regarding firearms.
Pro-Constitution candidates are an endangered species. Anyone who claims to support the Constitution is immediately labeled as "anti government." This even applies to you and me. The minute someone says that you are "anti-government" is an invitation to send in the "Waco killers" in the middle of the night to neutralize the "threat". Of course, your little Ruger 10/22 will be labeled by the media as a high-powered "assault" weapon capable of firing multiple shots with one pull of the trigger. And your incarceration will be fully justified in the eyes of the public.
But I digress. Until the American people begin electing "true patriots" to Congress, those who believe in the values and principles that have been passed down to us, we will continue to see more and more restrictive gun laws passed by these so-called "pro-gun" politicians.
We don't need anymore weak-kneed lawmakers who's idea of pro-gun is merely watering down anti-gun legislation, or compromising on meaningful legislation that will help preserve our endangered gun rights.
Every gun law on the books today is the result of a twisted and perverted sense of what is good for society. If the Constitution were followed, as the Founding Fathers intended, that would be the best for society.
Thomas Jefferson, who was concerned about the perversion of the general welfare clause, wrote, "Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated." The father of the Constitution, James Madison shared similar sentiments with Jefferson on the general welfare clause. If the Founding Fathers intended for the Second Amendment to be misinterpreted the way is has, they wouldn't have added the phrase."shall not be infringed."
Too many of our current legislators believe with every fiber of their being that it is their duty to make laws that only provide for the general welfare of the American people. We need politicians who will step forward and admit that these laws are unconstitutional and start the repeal process. We need politicians who believe that the American people are perfectly capable of making their own decisions regarding their personal welfare.and that includes which firearm they should own!
Rarely is there a time when a Congressman objects to a proposed law because it is unconstitutional? Congress prefers to wait until the issue is challenged in the Supreme Court. In the meantime our rights and liberties are worth nothing.
Read the Oath of Office (below) for members of Congress and ask yourself if your candidate for Congress will comply with it and if your Congressman even remembers taking the Oath, or if it's ever a consideration in his/her vote?
"I,____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."
If a person cannot understand the simple meaning of their Oath of Office, how can they be expected to understand the "simple" meaning of the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights?
It's time to sweep the house of these criminals in Congress!

There are very few politicians who believe that they are prohibited by the constitution from making ANY laws dealing with guns. There are a handful in Congress, and after November, there will be NONE in the Senate. It is interesting to note that Bob Smith, the only real pro gun Senator has been ousted, and the Republican party did everything it could to assure that Bob Smith would lose the primaries.
