Has anyone got one yet? I placed an order with my dealer (and paid for it) back in June and still haven't received it. He mentioned that it may not arrive until after the first of the year (2003). Are they that hot of an item?

"Beretta has a new entry level 22 pistol that should be hitting the dealer shelves sometime in August 2002 according to the latest information from Beretta. It has a good feel with its polymer frame and ergonomically designed grip. Some of the features of interest to handgun hunters are the Weaver rail system designed to accept a scope, or if you prefer iron sights, these are fully adjustable. The pistol also has a modular design and barrels are interchangeable.
I shot the Neos at a media event attended by Beretta and a few other manufacturers. I had little trouble hitting the steel swingers set up at varying distances out to 25 yards. The pistol has an overall feeling of quality and a trigger comparable to some higher priced semi-autos. It comes with 2 stainless steel clips and functioned flawlessly with the two clips full of Federal Lightening ammo I shot. I especially like the location of the clip release. It's located just forward of the trigger guard and is easily accessible with the index finger. The safety is very positive with a long throw to switch from safe to fire and it has an ambidextrous design. If I had to find one thing that I didn't like it would be the width of the front sight. It's too wide for serious hunting and target shooters probably won't like it much either. The front sight is removable though and hopefully they will have a narrow option available.
After shooting the pistol I was pleased to find out Beretta is pricing this pistol very competitively and you can expect to see them retail between $250 and $300 dollars; dealer prices should be somewhat lower. The finish on the test gun was blued but it will be available with stainless steel barrels as well in lengths of 4.5, 6, and 7.5". Hunters will probably prefer the longer versions. I hope to be able to provide a full review soon but with the pistol coming out in August some of you may get a chance to shoot one before I do. Either way I'll add more information as soon as I can give it a proper workout at the range."
