Update On Son Mark

When I saw Mark yesterday, I was very discouraged. He was just not himself, and his doctor was talking about admitting him to a state hospital for a long time.

When I saw him today, he was much improved, almost his old self. I saw him smile for the first time in a long time, and it sure warmed my heart. He looked better and said he felt better. He was even open to the idea of entering a 12-step program with others like him, and he wasn't before.

His doctor is now talking about moving him to a sort of a halfway house facility rather than a state hospital, a big difference.

Thanks to all who prayed and held good thoughts for Mark. Please keep it up. I think it made a difference.

    Good news. Hang in there!

    David,

Glad to hear the good news, but we all need to keep praying. I've seen too many ups and downs in addiction. Don't be disappointed if it takes more than one effort to succeed. It usually does.

Excellent news! Maybe the effects of the drug or drugs will completely wear off and he will regain his old self.

I will lay in a few more prayers until he is cured!

    David:

Prayers will continue here from NJ. The road he is facing is not going to be an easy one, nor a short one. As the saying goes, "Every journey begins with the first step". We will ask the good Lord to set Mark on that journey.

    Keep the faith........

nunn...you are a great guy who has done alot for all of us. If the prayers of your friends at GB seem to help...it's the least we could do to keep them coming for your family. Beach

I hope everything goes well for him and he is able to fully recover.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Mark is doing so much better, the doctors decided not to send him to a state facility. He is going to another residential facility here in this county. Thank God!

The drugs he did apparently triggered some schizophrenia, which runs in the family on his mother's side.

Mark will NEVER be able to handle street drugs. Next time he might not get back.

So, keep on praying for his resolve. He has to stay clean.

    Nunn,
Good luck with it. I'm sure as you know.....not to trust ANYTHING he says till he is clean and sober for AT LEAST a year.

Up till a year.....(and sometimes beyond) the old habits creep back in. Good luck with it.

I've been there. Hardest thing he'll ever do in his entire life.

    Rameleni,
Trust me, I speak from experience. :)

Addicts will lie right to your face, steal from you, etc. And then lie that they didn't!

Being addicted is NOT a matter of willpower, as some in here think. If it were, most addicts wouldn't be addicts.

Until you've gone through it, you have NO CLUE. Zero. Zip. Nada. NONE.

Unless you are in recovery, you are clueless. Sorry, but thats the way it is.

It is the hardest thing you'll EVER, and I mean EVER do in your life. Period.

    Merc (the humbled, thank God!)

Sorry I'm late doing this. Just now read all the warm wishes and encouragement and would like to add mine. Good things happen to those who wait; is an oft heard quote I'm sure. Your wait will indeed be long and we will all be here waiting and praying with and for you. It can be defeated but you must be adamant with the demon that you are fighting. The bright side is getting back from that demon, the son that you dearly love. nb
