Shot My New Ruger Mini 14 And Saved A Life!

That's right I saved a life the first time I shot my new Mini 14. I had to post this. Yesterday morning, after breakfast, I was looking over one of our fields and spied a coyote running down a late season fawn. I had my new Mini 14 in the case for target shooting later that day. The scene in the field looked like one of those outdoor wildlife programs and the coyote was getting the best of the fawn. I grabbed the Mini with a 20rd mag and out the door I went barefoot and shirtless and without my cane. I leaned against a tree for support and began walking the rounds out to the chase scene and zeroed in on the coyote which was scared off his quary by the crack of the rounds and the dirt kicking up. Honestly, the fawn probably had an equal chance of being hit as did the coyote. The fawn later rejoined it's mother and a yearling which I also saw this morning. I was shooting over 200 yards out at the coyote and was surprised how close I came and how quick with a gun just out of the box. Later that same day I bench shot the Mini at 100 yards, open sights, and was well satisfied with it's accuracy in a controlled setting. Anyways, this was a very unique and virtuous experience for me and for the use of a firearm. It still seems like a movie. Maybe that coyote is now patterned from chasing down fawns.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

Only 2 things better than a mini 14, are a minigun, or an Ruger AC-556, which looks just like your gun, with an additional switch on the side. Can't afford a minigun, but I really like the AC. Sandman2234

    Everything eats something else.

Next year, maybe you will eat that fawn.

I'm still trying to picture running out of my house with a rifle and not having the cops swarming the neighborhood.

must be nice to live out there.

When you hit him on the road and have him for a hood ornament, you'll wish the coyote would have gotten him.

There are too many coyotes AND too many deer, a pity you couldn't shoot them both (in season).
