Shot my friend's .50 Desert Eagle today

Man that is one nasty little piece! Very little muzzle flip but a helluva lot of push. Rather comfortable to shoot and a lot easier on the wrist than most 44 Mag revolvers. Was overall extremely impressed and am now planning on selling a kidney to get one for myself[;)]

    Yep, they are a blast to shoot (no pun intended). I just couldn't afford to feed it so I sold it and my extra .44 mag barrel set too. Originally I got my Desert Eagle as a semi-auto sidearm to my Ruger .44 mag carbine. It then hit me one day that my sidearm actually weighs more than my carbine. So I sold it and bought a long-barrel scoped Ruger Redhawk. Now I have a Ruger to carry with my Ruger. I absolutely hated that dang scope so I sold it too. I figured I never missed with that carbine (only fired if the deer was within 75 yards) and it never malfunctioned so why bother with a sidearm anyway?
    On a side-note, I do think I'd like that Redhawk with an Aim-point or something similiar. Either way, I should have tried it without the scope before selling it.

    Just my opinion, but unless you're going out past 100yds a scope on a Super Blackhawk or Redhawk is wasted weight. Ruger makes some very accurate pistols with nice sights. I sight mine in at 75yds so there is not much adjusting between 50 and 100 yd shots either way. Ofcourse there is always the trusty 44mag Marlin lever action that is the best 100 yd and under gun I've ever used in the thick Eastern woods.I've shot the 50AE a lot, but can't see much use for it except in a road rage scenario.

    I'll take my 50AE every day of the week. That thing just plain WHOPS em.

    Kingjoey,...did your buddies have the 6" or 10" barrel? I put the 10" barrel on and had it magna ported 3 times on both sides,....now it recoils less than a stiff 357mag load. Accurate as all get out.

    I went with the Leupold Gilmore red dot,...it works well.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    JustC- It was the 6" version. I wouldn't even bother Magnaporting one, the nose on 'em is so damn heavy it doesn't have any muzzle flip. It does compress the wrists though. After 7 shots my wrists felt like I had been punching the heavy bag awhile.[:D]

    Well, I looked into getting one of them in KaliRussia, and can't. They aren't on the Kali approved list, at least the one I want (Polished gold titanium .50AE)

    When they come to get your GUNS, make sure to give them the AMMO first!!!
