Lost in thought, the random kind where nothing stays for more than a moment and one idea has no relationship to the next, he was taken by surprise as the sun crested the ridge, for with it, a second emotion exploded in his consciousness; awe banished his uneasiness. The jagged rock edges of the sheer cliffs that soared into the sky to the east melted in the dazzling brilliance of the rising sun. He raised his face to meet the light and a feeling of warmth spread through his body, a heat that came from within, the source deep and guarded jealously, exposed rarely. He sunk into himself, the sensation warm and fluid. With eyes closed he took the energy he felt streaming across space; took it, fed on it, and lifted from the earth. Euphoria drafted him up and he drifted, gently rocked in a cradle of bright light. All sense of the flesh left him and he became as mist, shifting and spiraling through the treetops, sighing with pleasure. Quietly, he dissolved into thin air, a part of everything----and nothing.

Euphoria DRAFTED him up? Come on clouder, you can do better than that. BTW, not long ago I saw a post that said something to the effect, "I'M GONE" Did they run you off?

    Beach:
Pleased you like it. That describes what I think the end will be like.

    Clouder..

    Rosie:

How about 'took' him up. That is a first hack and I'm always open to suggestions. I pondered the word 'drafted', it does seem a bit technical for the use I've applied.

I think I used the words 'I'm done' and it was in reference to a long post that the puppy had going. The hiatus after that was due to literary commitments.

The powers that be can throw me off or should someone I respected ask me to leave, I would but I can't imagine anyone on this board running me off. The thought was good for a laugh though, thanks.

Suddenly out of nowhere appeared a winged creature so horrifying and grotesque as to make the most fearless of men tremble in fear. Its face was as bleached bone, its eyes ablaze, as red as coals in a furnace. The creature hovered there in front of him momentarily, let out a blood curtling laugh, took him by the nape of his neck and said "come with me, your master awaits". When it spoke to him and he was filled with the dread of a thousand centuries of pain and anguish and he knew he was on his way, strait to hell.

    LOL...

Clouder, there you go getting personal again, you just never learn do you?

The man in the story is dead and if the beast is his wife as you have indicated it must in fact be?

I was not being a smart * about the drafted part but I was with the "gone" part. Glad I can still make you laugh and piss you off a little. I aim to please.

    :06'

Considered waft, has a hard sound to it as do all 'w' words. I'll cogitate and come up with something or as I've done in that past, pull it out completely. Appreciate the input though.

    3G&C:

Weak comeback, real weak, but considering the source I suppose it has to be acceptable.

And nope, I guess I'll never learn.

The person in the story is not dead until I say he is. Rather like you not having a valid comment until I say you have.

I would think you would appreciate people who are easily entertained by the sound of your, "lost in thought", story. Now why don't you do as your character and quietly disolve into thin air, becoming part of everything and nothing. Or better yet, you can follow the path of the character as I described and go strait to hell!

wc: I think "raised" would be better, echoing both the ascension of Christ and the Phoenix from the ashes. (I'm sooooo embarrassed)

This isn't an Alan Ginsburg "Howl" redo is it?

Often the mind believes it is thinking, when it is only passing from one metaphor to the next.

    sheepdancer:

When I had that experience I was more carried than raised. The fullness I lived at the moment made me feel buoyant and the flight was not so much of euphoria as it was with it. We; my ethereal spirit and my mortal soul, were carried by something I can't identify.

And I don't `redo' anything. I may use a line or thought as appropriate but I will always attribute it if I do.

clouder: No offense intended. And you would certainly know which word best describes your experience.

BTW (and I know you've been told already), you write extremely well.
