Happy birthday, Carl

As many of you know, I manage a small liquor store as part of my many meager attemps at making a living.

Carl has been a regular customer over the years. Carl is a WWII vet, as were his deceased brothers. Not a big drinker, but he likes a little beer in the summer, and a glass of bourbon occasionally. He came in today, with his walker that he now has to use. He brought a bottle of bourbon up to the counter.

He asked me if I was going to give him a discount, as tomorrow is his 93rd birthday.

A man said, "What if I just buy that for you instead as a small thanks for your service to this country?"

This man, Carl, who has given so much, was just astounded that someone would buy it for him. He tried to offer thanks, but was told that the thanks belonged to him, and to others like him.

There aren't many of these men left. A bottle of bourboun, given in thanks, made him feel respected.

And I couldn't have spent the money on anythng else in the world that would have made me feel better.

Happy 93rd birthday, Carl. god bless you, and those like you.

Carl came into my store today. He has been a regular customer for years. Him, and his three brothers, who are gone, now. Today is Carl's birthday, and he wanted a few drinks to celebrate it, and remember. I refused to sell him any liquor.

Carl is a WW2 vet. He turned 96 today. And, I refused to sell him his bottle of peach brandy.

    I bought it for him.

    Not many of them left.

    God bless you, Carl.

(I bought it for him last year, too. May be why he comes back! [:D] )
