Worth $400? .22 Cal, of course. Replacment grips, seller says he has the originals. No box, or papers. Blue finish, 95%. 4"bbl. Looking at buying this for my Dad. I think the price is a bit below market value. Other opinions?

That would be a Model 18 with the 4" barrel. Darn good price.

At one time S&W made the M17 and M18 with the only real difference being the barrel length. At some point they combined them all into the M17 line. The 17-6 commenced in 1990 and that sounds like a realistic price to me.
They had different front sights.
