I am thinking about giving away a NEF .243/20g combo to someone with a youngster or grandchild that is starting out hunting and needing a gun of their own. If there are enough intersted parties I will get with one of our FFL dealers here on GB to hold the gun and help with a set of rules and drawing procedure. I want to do this to help give back to a group of folks that helped bail me out of a mess back in Febuary. Many of you had asked me not to repay, only to try and return the favor and I feel this would be a good way to do that. I have the gun now and will send it to the dealer if this is a go. Also since I am wanting to outfit a begining hunter may someone else can help by maybe tossing in some other essentials a beginner may need. I think this would be a great thing to do and help get another youth intersted in a great but dying sport.
Y'all let me know if you thinkn this would be a good idea before I invest time into this.

Just let me know who to send them to.

When I was a child, I thought as a child. But now that I am grown, I just wish I could act like a child and get away with it.

101 good luck
We have several dealers that post here that I'm sure would hold the gun and then send it to the winner via dealer of his choice, now just gotta pick one.
What kind of rules would be good? I for one would love to see it go to a youngster that is just starting the shooting/hunting sports but I also want it to be a surprise for the fella/gal so no essays or anything like that, don't want to tip them off[:D]
I know there are several members here who have young children and seeral members here who are older than dirt with grandkids[;)]. Maybe some who have nephews/nieces that could use it.
So how do I make this fair for them?
How should the winner be picked?
Any age group ok or should I look for participants say in the 8-15 year range? Heck I don't know, how bout some suggestions?

to maybe weed out the free loaders......... Sad to say but someone who doesn't really "NEED" the gun or someone who my just turn around and sell it (ouch) but true.......Maybe two members that have done business or done a lot of talkin with this member to "stand" behind him or her's honesty..........[?][?][?][?][?]

I think that (my opnion only) the boy/girl that recieves this nice gift should be someone who has had little if any exposure to the shooting sports. No offense guys but most of the folks here who have children have already intrduced them to shooting/hunting.
Whoever enters someone into say "a random drawing" for this nice gift should be sure that its someone who does not already have / cant afford a firearm but whos parents/guardian will not have a problem with them having one.
As an example, I would enter my nephew, 12 years old and who's parents would not buy him a gun but would not mind if he recieved one as a gift. He has gone shooting with me and enjoyed it very much. His dad does not hunt and for not wont let him go with me but does know how to use/safety firearms.
This is just an exmple of the child I would like to see get this.
Seems counter to your post to give it to someone who has already been thourghly introduced to this fine sport.

Besides, since I haven't been able to work much since Thanksgiving I can't do a big give-away like I'd like to do. [:(]
Having a predictable enemy is better than having an ally you can't trust.
Might even put my niece in as she's old enough to start shooting but my brother and his wife have little money to spend on that kind of stuff and I don't own a rifle with a small enough caliber to start a young lady out on.

Since it is expensive to ship, I'd rather send a check to the dealer that will deliver the winner's gun. Enough for a case of 20 gauge of the winners choice.
Great idea, thanks.

May even have to enter my 8 yr. old boy, I'm gonna put some thought to that idea.
