LOL! I have sitting on my desk here a 37mm projectile-stamped M55A1 fuze,dummy,M50(blue body and green tip). While I've never weighed it('bout 1 and 1/2-maybe 2 pounds I'll say) I can only imagine the amount and type of propellant required to fling it any significant distance...

instead of an Oerlikon, I could settle for a nice Bofors I suppose...

1,100 rpm!? Can you say Big Ammo Box?
I got to play with one our older versions of this at an airshow one time. If I remember right it was a 20mm chain gun with an ammo box the size of a pickup truck. I put the sights on a P-51 that was doing a flyby, clicked the lock on the computerized tageting system, and it followed the plane all over the field. Now...if i can just figure out how to adapt one of those targeting systems to my trap gun![:D]

I talked to a nice man from Bofors at the AUSA convention. They're making some pretty revolutionary 40mm ammo for their chain-cannons.

At least, that's what I think he was telling me about...the guy was all excited and sounded like the Swedish Chef after 5 cups of coffee.

not only that Dennis, but us Smiff fellers would prolly get in a whole heap 'o trouble with one...

..but I bet we'd sure have some fun 'til we did![}:)]

I need one that will track the crows and bluejays in me pecan trees(my 68-year-old pop is outdoing me-WITH MY OWN BERETTA!!!-maybe if there weren't any left that wouldn't happen again [:D][8D][}:)][:D]

Jesus christ, talk about nit-picking. Do you know that your computer was probably assembled by members of a company that is anti gun? Maybe your health-care provider is the same way. I'd put a gun in your mouth and nip this one in the bud with a hydrashok.

Didn't the US Army spend like 2+ billion developing DIVAD which was twin 40mm self propelled anti-air vehicle?

Didn't they come to the conclusion that they couldn't shoot down squat with it and in the few field tests they got a few holes in like drone F-100 and F-105 jets, but they command remote detonated the planes and claimed the DIVAD took it down?

Didn't they scrap that project after pouring umpteen taxpayer dollars down that hole?

Does the Swiss twin 37mm work any better?
