What happened to yesterdays thread on police issues posted by nunn yesterday?.I cannot remember the exact topic. It was a good thread and was getting a good cross oppinion on the topic he posted. I hope he did not poof the thread because he felt insulted as the replys were not personal just in general about police. If it was poofed what kind of reply's did he expect all pro for the police?. As there are good cops and cops who abuse the thread should have either been locked or let run.

Last time I looked it seemed okay. If you asked me why it got poofed I would have no idea, other than to direct you to the moderator.

Internal Affairs did it!! ALL of them are bad guys! You have no right to judge a cop unless you've been one, but you have a right to judge everyone else in the world without even knowing what they do IF you've been a cop. Waaaaa!!! "If only you laid your life on the line with crummy pay, you could talk, even though I chose to do this! So, if you've never done it, you have no right to judge!! BUT!! I CAN judge everyone from the President on down to the low-life scum I deal with everyday, which are mostly guys I busted in speed traps to make my monthly quota, guys who drive nice cars who I don't like the looks of, and anyone under 30 who doesn't look like a U.S. Marine, plus the losers I have to take to jail because they hit their wife. I DESERVE YOUR RESPECT AND SYMPATHY!!! I"M A COP!!!!!" Or....."I deserve your respect because you don't know what it's like to be black.", or "I have more rights than you because I'm 1/16th Indian, and you don't know what that's like." or "People who have drug problems deserve your respect and help, because, well, you just don't know what it's like...uhhhh...neither do I, but they DO!", or: "Stop picking on me just because I let the guys go if they have a badge. They're better than you! They (sob) WORK SO HARD!!!"
Jeez, it's almost like a liberal mantra! Cops are cool, I like 'em. But if you're going to whine so much about it, THEN QUIT!!!!! I have a forty that needs clearcutting, I'll provide the saws, and I'll skid. You'll get paid by how many cords you put on the ground. I know some farmers around here who would pay more than 30K a year for a good, dependable milker and dung shoveler, and I ain't kidding.
Being a cop is damn hard, and most are great folks, but I kinda worry when they all seem to be whining about how hard their chosen profession is. Damn right it's hard, one of my best buddies from school is a Lieut. now, started as a security guard, then a cadet. Never heard him complain about it, 'cept how boring it is.
Then again, they don't have a union where he works. Maybe it's just liberalism creeping in. Everyone's a victim, right? Not I. I don't have to have been president to judge an individual president, I don't have to be Osama Bin Laden to judge an individual terrorist, and I don't have to be a cop to judge a good one from a bad one.
When are the cops going to start having an annual "whine-fest?"

timber you must be a pretty big guy with the line of work you are in, but I will tell you I would rather have you whoop my butt than get into a verbal argument with you! It would have taken me three days and twenty re writes to say something even close to what you said. I think you are right on!!

I agree in principle. In fact, I've always used this same argument against terrorism. Each of us has a full set of problems, thank you, and how arrogant is it of someone to inflict theirs on someone else as if theirs were more important.

Of course, there are positive ways that people have to help one another, but harm, sabotage, destruction are simply means of delivering the frustrated message that a man thinks his problems are more important than mine -- which is patently unfair. Blame, blame, blame. How about we all take responsibility for our own cross? Can you say, "my problems are my problem"? Good, I knew that you could.

6 good reason to be a cop

    1. They never get layed off
    2. If they bust some kids with drugs and $20,000...they can make the $20k disappear
    3. They get the joy of relieving lifes stresses by beating people into submission...when justified of course.
    4. It's usaully a state or federal job...usually good retirements
    5. When they retire they know how to do things and not get caught
    6. They get the best deals on cars from the drug busts/impounds

greetings, i know this is a poor arguement for ones actions, but most police agencies are bound by what they are told to do. thus the statement "i was following orders", or procedure or whatever is a viable umbrella. here again personal responciblity is replaced by an edict, statute or whatever. the real problem is that most of the cops on the street have not read the law well enough to administer it fairly. most have a knowledge of statues, miranda and the like. but the pointier parts are if not hidden atleast obscured. my point is this due process is a right and the fight is in a court. trying to prove your right to a street cop will have only one result and that is the best senario. respt submitted dads-freehold

Well, if you had a radio, as I had up until they scrambled our LE frequencies here a few months ago, you would know that the new guys are supposed to call up the line if they are unclear on a legal concept. In fact, they do a pretty good job of asking when they don't know around here. I'm just waiting for Radio Shack to put out the descrambler version so we can listen in again. The cops don't always love us listening in, but it is one more way we can keep tabs on the thin blue line.

I made it go away. I started it, and when you get the first post, the rest go too.

I was in a sour mood when I posted, and made some rather inappropriate comments, both in the first post and later down the thread.

I realize that in the real world there are some less-than-exemplary officers, unlike the fine men and women I have the privelege of working with, and it rankles me to be reminded, and to have people tar all police with the same brush as the bad ones.

Sorry for taking away your discussion, but my posts were out of line.

Start over and we'll see where it goes.

Gosh, now we ought to all pull off our shirts and hug one another.

Actually, we had some outside guest instructor come to our PD for some "sensitivity training," and that is one of the great ideas he had for breaking down barriers. A skin to skin hug.

    Couldn't get anyone to participate.

Fair enough explanation nunn. Why is it that the older cops from the old school act human and the newer younger cops act like they have an ax to grind against every dealing with the general public?. Their attitude is high and mighty and i believe it is the way they were brought up with less parenting. The (older) generation never acted that way and i know many older cops who are decent and fair minded. A sign of the new generation i guess.

nunn-- You got sensitivity training huh? No shirt? HMMMM!! Sounds like you live in Deliverance When I worked for Dept of Energy we got Verbal Judo training. Everybody raved about it, Pretty pricey program from what I hear to. In my experience you either have it or you don't. If you weren't born with the people genes I don't think you can develop them. Thank God we were all born w/ that genetic make-up
