I picked up two nice H&R M1s in a private purchase a few weeks ago (wasted no time once back from vacation) and this is the first of the two that I have listed:

It is a very clean rifle and worth a look if you want a nice M1.

The stock shows a bit of "character", but is original USGI walnut and properly marked with the small-box (3/8") HRA stamp and non-serif P on the pistol grip. It is on a five day listing, so it closes on Sunday. This one is worth looking at.

This rifle has a USGI birch stock set with the correct proof mark and it is in far better condition than what is shipping from the CMP today. The receiver leg is etched LEAD 5-66, which indicates it went through the Letterkenny Army Depot in May, 1966. This was near the tail end of the M1 program which shipped hundreds of thousands of M1 Rifles to South Vietnam. By late 1966 we began providing ARVN troops with M16s so this rifle never made the trip and most likely went into storage until it was released to the CMP. The barrel is like new, so if it was ever fired, it wasn't fired much. H&Rs in the 5.4 million serial number range are few and far between (nearly the entire block was assigned to Springfield Armory), so probably won't run into another on the range.
If you are looking for a nice M1, this one is worth considering.

I bought this in a private purchase back in 2014 from a man who purchased it from the CMP as a Service Grade and then corrected it. I don't see any parts which aren't HRA, but I never BS anyone and I'm listing it as a Service Grade and not a Correct Grade. This is a nice clean rifle with a fine barrel and really good looking USGI wood. I feel that this M1 is well worth consideration.

This is another M1 from my personal collection. It's a nice one with good looking wood and very good barrel. Thanks for looking.

This rifle has really nice wood with some great tiger striping, although my skills with a camera don't do it justice. All of the parts look to be H&R and the barrel is in excellent condition. For the shooter or collector; if I was going to own a single M1 then I'd give this one serious consideration.

These earlier rifles are a bit uncommon and this a good example with a properly marked USGI walnut stock and an excellent condition barrel.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I'm no computer person, but it seems like every time I have issues with pictures its an update that is the problem.

I used to put photos in my shameless plugs, but stopped when Photo bucket pulled the plug on my account.
