I saw an AR15 on GB with a preban clear magazine like a SIG 551, or HK G36. I cant find the auction anymore, so does anybody know who makes them?

they were some in the early days (pre ban) that were made for a mini 14 and the same mag claimed it could also be used in an ar-15 that were clear but did nit work so hot in an ar -15 worked good in mini 14 dont remember who made them this is just my experince with the mags if they are the same ones

I found the reverse to be true. Ram Line mags would work in the AR but not in the Mini 14. Get yourself some good GI mags much better than those Ramline mags.

Another company was Defense Molding Enterprises which was based here in SoCal. These magazines would fit an AR or AR-180 and used piano wire springs which I thought were way to fragile and weak. The ones I was given as samples for my Colt M16 and AR-18 dealer sales samples (the company was eager for police business and military sales) either split along the so-called reinfocing rib at the base of the magazine or had the plastic feed lips of the magazine shear off during rapid fire. Plastic AK magazines use steel inserts at the lips and high stress points to gaurd against these types of failures. On full auto the weak springs lacked the power to deliver the rounds into the rifles fast enough and eithr jammed the gun or caused misfires.
I was so unimpressed with these folks magazines that the people at the company offered me plenty free replacements if I would NOT tell anyone about the problems I had with their product until they corrected the defects. I told them they could keep their magazines but that I'd keep my mouth shut. I'm sure that that company is long out of business so 15 years later it is time to tell all! I have no experience with Ramline's AR magazines but I have low expectations of quality from that firm.
