It is appearing as if the U.S. government is backing down in its opposition to the reimportation of M1 Garands from South Korea. The ban on their US M1 Carbines is still in effect.

I'd like to see if this has anything to do with the paperwork that that has been holding this whole deal up for 15ish years being discovered. But of course it ls all Obama fault.

Come to think of it, it wouldn't surprise me if this was a mild, "safe" policy reversal by Obama to attempt to curry favor with the right wing.

Either way, I have a shady feeling about this.....

She noted that the U.S. government, however, rejected Seoul's proposal to export some 600,000 M1 Carbines, which were also used in the Korean War, as they come with a magazine that can carry multiple rounds unlike the Garands.

Thats interesting. Someone must have told them Garands are single shots.

Someone should tell them the carbines are single shots since they jam so much. :)

If you want to get technical about it, Garands have clips while M1 Carbines have magazines.

Only ones I've ever seen jam are the Universals.

I am here at the SHOT Show and just left the Century Arms booth; one of the largest players in MILSURP firearms. Even though the so called "ban" has been lifted, they have no clue when, if ever, they will actually be able to come to terms with our stooge government in Souel for actually selling them those rifles. The $220 listed in he article has nothing to do with reality so far as what the final sales price might be.
