THE NEW GUN

I wanted to buy something really nice and expensive to show off. I was ready to spend $700-$800 easy. I got there and saw something I tought was priced very well. I did not want to let it pass like I let the G22. It was a Ruger P97 45cal. Got it Brand new for $350 after all the Fees. They have a ton of them in stock and need to get rid of them. Plus the manager is a Philadelphia Eagles fan just like me so he even knocked a few bucks off. At that price instead of 1 expensive gun I could have gotten 2 good guns (to bad in VA you can only buy 1 handgun per month).

If you will blame gun makers for every shooting then blame car maker for every car accident.

I'm just curious but what "fees" did you have to pay?
    You mean tax?

Ps. What's up with all the Rugers, you a Ruga-holic?

With the 350.00 you have left, you can start saving for that M627!. Sounds like you scored!

The fees where taxes, transfer fees and Nics check I guess. I like rugers but I would not say I am a ruger freak. I only own 4. Wait that would make me a freak. I am also a bargin hunter and that deal was just to good to pas up. I'm back to the range to shoot it.

Granted im not in VA, but, NICS fee? S-C-A-M. transfer fee? we're not talking about a class 3 stamp here so what is a transfer fee? who does it go to? sounds like two more ways to get a few extra bucks from you. and as far as one handgun per month goes, what a bunch of bullsheep!

Give your kids roots and wings. and dont forget the guns!!

    Casey,
Maggie cat is dead on. If this guy is charging you transfer and Nics check fees steer clear of him. HONEST FFL's charge a transfer fee when they receive a gun for you, not when you buy it directly from them.

In Virginia the State Police charge a resident a $2 fee to administer the NCICS program. Other than that just the state sales tax. No transfer fee if gun is bought from the dealer.

You were ready to spend $800.00 and settled for that. UNBELIEVABLE! Not that there is anything wrong with a Ruger, own plenty myself.

The only "fees" should have been 15.75 VA sales tax and the 2.00 call in to the State Police. Was still a good deal! If I was in the shop would probably have bought one myself! GHD

ccasey, I see you are in Richmond. Sometime when you want to find a gun shop, drive out 60West to Cumberland and look for the "Cumberland Trading Post". That old boy usually has a few good ones in his display and sometimes doesn't know what he has!! (XP-100, 7mmBR, Hart Match Barrel, Hart Bolt Release, MacMillanBR stock, dies and cases) I'm not even going to mention how the trade went down! Ya'll would want to know if I can sleep tonight! YES I CAN! GHD

The stores around where I live charge as high as ten dollars so that you can buy a gun off them. Thieves.
