Ok not if but, when Putin throws a rock in the Ukraine and are Pres. calls for trade sanctions against mother Russia. Where 99.99999 percent of the 7.62x39 comes from. You know the price will head north. So do i pull the kids gold fillings out and stock up now or wait. Or follow my gut and load up now? By the way i have a shotgun news not to old where you could buy 7.62x39 for 69.00 a thousand, 6.9 cents a round. I followed my gut when i loaded my eight ft bed dodge pickup with South African 7.62 x 51 for 24.00 a battle pack. I remember the guy at the gun shop telling me when i was loading the boxes on a hand cart and making trips to my truck, he was happy to get the S##T out of the shop!!! All i know if i would have put my 401K in 7.62x39 at 69.00 a thousand, i would be a whole lot better off! All i know is that when i listen to my gut i do pretty well. Please tell me what you think!

Russian ammo sanctions? Probably two thirds of the twenty two rimfire ammo produced in the world originates in the USA and right now you can hardly find it priced at 6.9 cents a round.

you missed the bus on surplus 762x39. You will not have too many issues with x39. I don't think. The big hit right now is 545x39 or 54R. I would not over invest in either if I didn't shoot it.

If you are worried about Wolf, Herters or Tula, I suspect that the importers ordered by the ship load a month ago. Meaning a ton of it is on the way.

I know 1 importer who has 50M rounds of 54R coming. Got it ordered just days before the BATF&E stopped processing form 6's. He won't know if the order made the cut until it pulls into dock.

    We shall see.

I understand what the scarcity scare is about, but this whole thing probably will turn to nothing; if Russia even were to shoot at Obama they'd have to shoot 14 floors down in North Dakota. Same as when he's on top.
I KNOW they're not going to shoot at HIM, I was trying to make a funny.[:)]

Miwal was selling 7.62X39 for $199 + Tax for 1,000 rounds at the last Crossroads gun show that I went to. I would prefer to pay 20c per round of 7.62X39 than 12c per round for 22 ammo. I will see if the price is still the same at the Phoenix show.

I've never listened to your gut. Unless your real name is Louise, and you had that operation we talked about in college in 1982.

In which case, I'm glad you got that taken care of. And I'm certain your husband and children are really happy with the outcome.

Joking aside.. There are bazillions of rounds of AK ammo on this planet.
I'm not sure if it's possible to dig it all up, knock the dust off, and shoot it all before the sun burns out to a cinder.

The fact that you were able to buy it for less than .22 LR at any point in time would lead me to believe that there is a butt load of it out there. And it will all eventually find its way to the market.
